Stanford Rejection: A mother's support

Concur with everything Consolation said. I’m not at all surprised the OP hasn’t come back. She didn’t post here for people to make fun of her religious beliefs.

She hasn’t logged in since posting… could she be just lurking and decided to leave? Sure, but my spidey senses are tingling…

Thumper, the shopping came into play in the roommate essay.

The subtility of the essay was to draw a parallel between the roommate and dad, and to use the shopping as an opportunity to discover each other.

Can God make a college so hard to get into that even (S)/He cannot get into it?

To the OP (wherever she is!!!)

Here is a quote from part of a larger quote from Time magazine a while back.

From Charmaine Yoest, CEO of Americans United for Life:

“I cried from loneliness on the way home from the event where, unknowingly, I met husband. Even in that brief moment of despair, my future was unfolding. Life is like that”

My DD was rejected by the college she had her heart set on going to (and one that we had some experience with). One of her acceptances was by a college that she applied to almost on a whim. It was where she ultimately decided to go to. She couldn’t be happier.

I’m sure it will work out just fine for your DD.

Well, of course Christians get accepted to Stanford at the same rate as others. The Bible explains why:

This thread is providing opportunities to apply both parts of this passage.

This thread is just…mmph.

1) No posters should be mocking the OP for her religious beliefs. You may feel that her beliefs are dramatic (some people chose the word idiotic), but that is your belief. Bite your tongue and offer constructive advice.

2) A lot of unfortunate misconceptions about Christians on this board. My God is not the god you nonbelievers portray him as…but I digress.

3) OP’s daughter just wasn’t meant for Stanford. It was not His will and she would not have flourished in a way that God saw fit. He does not give is anymore that we can handle. It may be hard now, but give this time and let life unfold.

I think that I am the only person who has identified him or herself as an unbeliever here, and I haven’t said a single word about your god or anyone else’s.

You can make as many statements as you like about “his” will and what “he” wants, but do not presume to think that you know what “unbelievers” think about your god or anyone else’s.

Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA for those between the ages of 15-24. Suicide accounts for 20% of the total deaths in that age range each year.
