Stanford vs Berkeley?

I think it's a one-sided rivalry.

Hmmm.. The only students that Berkeley accepts with SATs lower than 1000 are ATHLETES. Frankly who cares about them? They just bring down the average SAT and take scholarships from more worthy students, not to mention get added "bonuses" from the departments.

At the overall graduate school level, Berkeley is equal to Stanford. Some of Stanford's graduate programs are better than Berkeley's. Some of Berkeley's graduate programs are better than Stanford's.

Geniuses remain geniuses regardless of what school they go to. If you are not smart, and you get into a "good" college, the college won't make you smart or successful. If you are really smart then undergrad really doesn't matter. Only for those average folks does it really matter.

Smartness has less impact then hard work. ^ To above poster.

Very true. Most of the people who score really well on the SATs studied.

I'd like to see everyone take it cold turkey..and see what happens

My parents know a couple in Cali whose son is brilliant. He made 1600 on the SATs without ever studying for it (Not even exagerating). But all he did was play video games and stuff. He got into Berkeley. Last I heard, he was failing his classes.

I have a genius friend who got a 1540 in 7th grade (without studying).

Failing his classes? hmmm okay Shouldn't he be smart enough to pass even without trying?

Tupac Shakur,

It would be very nice if you refrain from pulling numbers out of nowhere. This is getting pointless. Everybody knows Berkeley's SAT score is nowhere near Pricenton's. Who are you trying to fool? Yourself? Please do us a favor and stop being ridiculous.

Tupac,

By the way, you say Asians' average is 40-50 points above Berkeley's average. Given that Asian population is over 40%, you are saying, if I am not mistaken, that non-Asians' (including close to 40% whites) average is like 80 points lower than Asians'. Wow, I don't know Asians are that much smarter at Berkeley?! LOL!

"Didn't that Berkeley admissions offer to the doofus 900 SAT scoring student in the back of your class open your eyes to the HUGE divide between the mediocrity of Berkeley and the excellence of Stanford?"

Yes. I am a bit dissapointed with a few of the students I've encountered here. On the other hand, there are quite a few brilliant students as well. Cal has a mix.
