Stanford, Yale, P-ton...Chances

<p>Hi, I'm wondering about my chances for schools RD. The main schools I'm uncertain about are Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, and Cornell. Any advice is appreciated.</p>

Living in Southern California</p>

5’s on 4 AP tests thus far (Euro, US, Bio, Lit) and 4 on Comp Sci</p>

<p>Depends entirely on luck, but I'd say you'll get into at least 1-2 of 'em.</p>

<p>Your scores are definitely great enough for any of those schools. I guess you need a killer essay, b/c hardly anyone I know gets into Stanford or Yale solely on academic merit (ie they're first-generation and nationally ranked in a sport). Try to show a hook in your essay, that's what my friend did and now he's at Stanford. Cancer Research sounds impressive! maybe your essay could be about that.
It's seriously a crapshoot when it comes to those schools; I know some people who should have gotten in but didn't. Best of luck!!!</p>

<p>Yeah, i agree. You have outstanding stuff but you need more like a killer essay or something to make you stand out. You'll be in at brown and cornell for sure, but chances are that you will make at least one of the other four you listed. So count on it.</p>
