Hey. So do I have a prayer of getting into Stanford? my gpa is a 3.9 unweighted at a very tough high school with a 4.2 UW. I am taking 3 aps this year (chem, calc AB, and Lang) and took 2 last year (World, Lit). I also have done MUCH better academically since freshman year when i got a 3.6 gpa mostly from a b in band. can colleges see this increase in performance? I also got a 34 on the ACT (35 math, 35 reading, 34 english, 33 science) and I am involved in senate, NHS, Im a student tutor, varsity baseball, work at subway, volunteer at a hospital 2hrs/week, am on the leadership team at my church and do a ton for the church, am on newspaper at my school, and am in a few other smaller groups. My main worries are that I don't have any clear cut president roles in ecs or anything major and that my gpa is a little low. Also, should i be taking the SAT? oh and i took the sat 2 chem, math 2 and lit and will get my scores on the 20th. they didn't go the greatest though but we'll see! so let me know what you think my chances are!

You have a chance (your GPA and test scores are high enough that you won’t be immediately disqualified due to them being too low), but (like everyone else) it is only a small chance.

Have you been taking the most rigorous possible courses in your high school?

Stanford doesn’t look at freshman grades (at least as of two years ago when we last looked). No need to take the SAT. Apply and see what happens.

Thanks, yeah i’ll probably end up applying soon with restricted early action. Itll also help to know about those sat 2 scores. and they dont look at freshman grades? wow my gpa just shot up about .06 then. and also, I have always taken the most rigorous classes possible. always in advanced or ap science and math, im in honors spanish and accel chem along with the aps, and the only thing is that i did regular english freshman year. i kinda messed that year up
