thank you luvtoolearn
to the rest of you, all i asked was a simple question lol

Kick out those illegal immigrants and we are all gonna end up w tv dinner on our plate every single meal. Americans are so dependent upon take out food that w/o those illegal immigrants working at the restaurants we are likely to starve to death. Have you visited the kitchens of any restaurants lately? They are almost all foreign. Most likely they are illegal immigrants. Thats the reality and thats how most employers maximize their profits. Such cheap labor also allows consumers to enjoy food at an affordable price and s utilize the time which otherwise would have been spent cooking our own food to take on a task thats yields far gtreater than a minimum wage. Of course it costs money to keep them here but the trade offs (cheap labor and their economic contribution) are indispensable in the American economy. If you have noticed the majority of the manual labor force is comprised of foreigners. They are cheap and their lower cost allows entrepreneurs to take on a business project more willingly. Absence of these millions of foreign workers means more expensive manual labor but most importantly drastically reduced labor force which results in less economy-boosting activity and slower growth. Our perception at this point has become that manual labor is for illegal immigrants. When they are gone, how many are going to be willing to relinquish these spots? Simply its too late to kick them out. We need to find a solution to coexist rather blaming those who are integral part of our economy.

LOL yes keep the illegal immigrants so we can keep a *ty take out food restaurant on every block! I love food poisoning! But no really I have no problem with illegal immigrants trying to just work what I really get annoyed with are cultures that have been here for generations that still just can't get their * together. I've got an idea, lets have more children when we're already unemployed and on welfare! Then blame all our problems on white people though of course.

Are you serious? Are you even a college student?

grey,

You're either not bright enough to grasp the concept of how the budget crisis directly brought on by the illegal situation is related to admissions/tuition, or you are willfully choosing to ignore the link most likely for politically correct reasons. My guess is it's the latter.

I understand where Grey is coming from. He just did not bother to explain his thoughts, for doing so is even more ridiculous than the excerpt itself. Cultures that have been here for generations? Over time, the people of those cultures have become pricipals of secondary schools, deans of colleges and universities across the US, writers, etc. Those nannies and manual laborers do not reflect the "cultures" as a whole. I am offended by the statement you have made because it is like telling black people to go play some hoops and shoot people. Obama will laugh at your audacity and stupidity.

Edward,

"budget crisis directly brought on by the illegal situation is related to admissions/tuition"

illegal immigrants have been around for years, at least in California. Budget crisis is not "directly brought on by the illegal situation." Rather, it is a consequence of the global economic melt down. It is not just California that is suffering economically. It is the whole world that is struggling to survive.

took the survey

hm…you don’t see a lot of stupid people around like the previous poster anymore

HAHAHAHHA!!! ROFL over the kool aid drinkers who are blaming the immigrants for everything from admissions to California’s economic situation. California’s economic problems have been caused by bad CONSERVATIVE policies that stretch back to the 70’s if you really want to do your history. But I’m sure if you buy into the ancient “blame the immigrant” rhetoric you’d rather just keep drinkin’ Glen Becks Kool Aid. So much ignorance in this thread it is amazing, sure you kids are not transferring to the State system?

Meh, I don’t even know why I made this post…you can’t reason with these people there worthless.

California’s problems come from unions. And other stuff, but mostly unions.

It’s also Ironic how LAUSD spends over $45,000 per pupil and scores less than other CA districts that spend less than $10,000 per pupil. Or that the budget of LAUSD ($20B AFIAK) was 4 times that of the cost of running Los Angeles…

If we just fixed LAUSD up alone we might be able to allocate those resources to people who actually care about their education at UCs…

^ Yeah its just because certain “people” don’t “care” about their education. You really think that’s all that’s at play there? C’mon man…also LAUSD is the second largest schoool district in the US…

btw I dare you to back up that anti-union comment with serious data…but there is no way you could really back up that comment because it flat out wrong.

CBBolts, explain which conservative policies caused these economic problems. By definition, conservative policies are ones that minimize government spending, which means that they cannot possibly cause budget deficits, especially given that California takes a good chunk of taxes.

Yes, that is at play there. First I must ask, did you attend a school in LAUSD? If yes, you wouldn’t be asking the question. An example can be the drop out rates (percent), or the low API scores which are based off ridiculous standardized testing that the only way to score that low is to randomly fill in bubbles. How about the crime rates?

You’d rather want that money to go toward one of the 8 assistant principles at an elementary school or spending $1,000,000,000 on a high school on top of toxic soil instead of UCs?

LAUSD operates a pyramid scheme. In order to pay for LAUSD’s growing retirements, they require ever-increasing numbers of employees to pay the bills. As long as retired populations are growing and living longer, pensions are threatened. At last count, LAUSD’s Health and Welfare deficit was, by itself, $10 billion in the red.

To keep this scam hidden, the teacher unions kick back a portion of these billions in the form of union dues that support politicians (e.g., Democrats) who won’t expose the scam. Democrats and school administrators claim they need more money for the children, but the more taxpayers spend the less education our children receive.

Until parents control funding with vouchers or charters, LAUSD has no incentive to reform itself. Any child who enters LAUSD schools today risks violence and institutional retardation. Charters and vouchers are our only way out.

^ If I honestly thought I could change your mind via the internet then I would respond but to be honest it just doesnt seem worth my time…btw I attended a school that seems very similar to what you are describing at LAUSD so I know first hand that those kids you are giving up on are not “failing” because they dont care about their education. They are failing because people don’t care about their educations and dont care about their situations. I agree with you on the administration stuff by the way, but its not the kids fault.

^^Your logic is false. Conservative policies can cause budget deficits. California is a great example. When the economy was booming and California was building a surplus California voters voted in Conservatives who promised short minded tax cuts(This began with Prop 13 in 78’ but you’d need to study the full history from that date until now to truly unseerstand). They also voted for Propositions that drastically cut and limited property tax yet these Conservatives continued to spend off the surplus as if it was unlimited (as they always do). If you recall there was a guy named Grey Davis who recognized this problem and tried to increase taxes and make certain cuts so we would not have the current economic melt down…I think you know what happened to that guy and the bum who was elected to replace him and keep taxes low.
BTW your understanding of Conservatism in your post is very limited but I will assume that you just tried to put it in a limited nutshell at the moment. But there are many ways Conservatism can cause a budget deficit.

Statism by any other name is still statism. What I was getting at is that excessive spending, interventionism, centralized power is always the cause of economic problems. Someone like GW Bush or Schwarzenegger spewing off free-market rhetoric is just playing politics and has nothing to do their actual economic policy.

Basically both of today’s Dems and Reps fall into the statist category, the difference is that they target different constituency.

^ I’m interested in what you mean (though I’m afriad it might be a little radical for my taste) by Statism. I am familure with the term but I am not connecting how it connects with this discussion? Please explain.

oh boy! this thread has the potential to turn into the first big flamewar of the application season. Last year i think it was something with “chesserforlife” or atheism.

it’s usually typical to see flamewars start a month or two after applications are filed…looks like fall '10 applicants might get a head start to hating eachother!!!

grab some popcorn, sit back, and refresh…
I*

^ Haha it was totaly the religion one last year I remember that. Oh gosh…Chesserforlife was hated but everyone missed him once he was gone.

a few good ones are:

those dirty immigrants need to get the hell out of my state so that we can use the prison land for golf courses.

or

immigrants keep your life going everyday, imagine a life where you aren’t fed everything like the spoiled moronic child you are today

things like those are fantastic

daymn hommie, the moderators on this forum are so lazy, they don’t even bother to look anymore
