State University Transfer

Hi guys. I'm attending a community college....I'm 23, and took a few semesters off when I was with my (now ex) girlfriend. Anyway, I just graduated last May with A.A. in Liberal Arts, and just finished my last class which enables me to transfer (took the final on July 9th). I'll be officially applying when the C shows up on my transcript/records.

Anyway since I missed the deadline for Fall admittance, I'll be staying at the CC (with my friend--who has another yr.) and taken at least two comm. classes. I realized I only need two more to graduate (again) with an A.A. in communications. So mightaswell do it.

Anyway, I also would like to get some of my major courses out of the way so I graduate quicker when I transfer.

I either want to work as a high school guidance counselor, college advisor (Like who recommends classes to takes, majors, transfer advice, etc), a communications teacher at either a middle, high school, or college, working in like a TV station or radio station (entertainment biz, but most likely behind the scenes), or some kind of writer/editor. I love to write short stories/scripts, but that is a hard biz to make it in and turn into a career.

I'm thinking of a communications major with minor in theater arts or journalism.

What are the educational requirements for a HS counselor (not like pyschologist, just guidance counselor who recommends majors, colleges, gives placement tests, etc.)? And for a college advisor?

Thanks for all/any advice!

I would highly recommend you check out Syracuse University in NY. Their communications department is one of the best. They have a lot of big alumni regarding broadcasting. If you want to work behind the scenes in the field of TV, definitely check this college out. They have a teaching and theater program as well although I don't know how good they are.

Schools that are awesome in journalism are USC and University of Pennsylvania but they are extremely competitive. Syracuse is easier to get into.
