Statistics for Duke Early Decision Deferred In Regular Decision 2022

Wondering if anyone has seen information related to applicants who are deferred early decision at Duke and how they fare in the regular decision process. Do many stay the course and wait? Do they ED2 elsewhere? Is there a historical percentage that seeem to gain admission?

Don’t know about how many ED2 elsewhere, but last year for the Class of 2021, 58 students who were deferred ED were accepted out of 671 total deferrals – for an acceptance rate of 8.6%. The regular decision acceptance rate was 7.3%, so those getting deferred actually did slightly better than those applying regular! Of course, 8.6% is still a major longshot so those deferred should obviously keep their options open and try not to fall in love with Duke too much.

Does the ED 2 accepted applicants include athletes?
