Hi.. Can anyone give me their opinion on the classes I'm thinking of taking? I don't live in the SoCal area so I'm not planning to take summer school this year. That's why I decided to take on a heavier load this quarter to make up for it. Is this suicide? Is it possible to take these classes together and still pass with good grades?

Statistics 13 with Hansen
Math 3C with Weisbart
Chem 14C with Hardinger
Life Science 2 with Esdin and Bok

I've searched them up on Bruinwalk and they all have really great ratings. Should I try to take them all? Or am I just being crazy here?

stats13- look a t bruinwalk
math 3c - hard class in general for ppl who are good at math; weisbart is generally well liked
14c - put in a lot of effrot and u’ll get an A…its a doable class; requires lots of work
ls2 - esdin is the best ls prof; this class srequires lots of memoriz

why are u taking all of these classes; ur crazy; my mistake was that i didnt take 3 sci classes in the spring, but i sure as heck shouldn’t have taken 4…NO ONE TAKES 4 SCIENCE CLASSES…ESPECIALLY NOT A FIRST YEAR

my recommendation

stats 13
ls2
14c

u will need first pass fro stats 13 and ls2

this will still be a hard schedule. but still doable…ur schedule is a reciepe for disaster

Do you think Hansen will retire anytime soon…? XD If anything, I was thinking of taking Stats later because I want to get the math series over with by the end of this school year. Would LS2, Math 3C, and Chem 14C together still be doable?

I don’t know how Math 3C compares to the other classes in the 3 series but it is in no way a hard class for those who are good at math. I took Math 31B last quarter which was really intense but I ended up with an A. Now I’m in 3C and I don’t even go to class and still wind up around 10-15 points above the curve on tests. If you are good at math, it is not hard at all.

Not true at all! 5 Upper Div Science is definitely doable, and has been done (using myself as an example, multiple times. One winter: HC70A, Math 131BH, Physics 105A, Physics 110A, Physics 4BL, and a Physics 189, last quarter Math 100, 170A, and 151A, Physics 115B, 112, next quarter Math 191, 170B, 171, 151B, and Physics 180F.) It just depends on you to put in sufficient effort and make sure that you get all your assignments done. You should still have enough time to relax and have fun, as none of those classes take all that much independent studying because so much of the sciences is purely logic (that’s all math is once you know the definitions), same with Stats. 3C and Stats 13 are a lot of the same material, with stats being built on probability.

I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to be an engineer so I took 30 but then I realized that I probably didn’t want to be one so I switched to the 3 series so I could put more effort into chem. I figured there was no reason to stress myself out with 32A when I could breeze by the 3 series.

lol kww no one needs to go to lecture to do well in a south campus class…how long did it take u to figure that out lol

and dinoan u said 5 upper div science classes…he isn’t taking upper div sci classes…and i don’t get how u can just LOGIC ls2…ls2 does require lots of memorization and studying…

i think dinoan is being overly simplistic in his assessment or he hasn’t taken these classes (im guessing its both looking at his course schedule he doesn’t seem to be a premed)

^ Our upper div math classes don’t really compare well. First off that is an impressive load that you’ve taken. If you’re getting all As then kudos. As you mentioned a lot of the upper div math classes are built on logic. W/o understanding the definitions and concepts you’re in trouble, but if you really get them, then it’s much more of a breeze. There is a lot less emphasis on memorization and more on logical reasoning. This is not as much the case in classes like 14c and ls2 which is just a lot of fact/rules memorization.

As for the OP. Yes you’re schedule is doable, and you’re taking good/easier grading profs. Stats 13 and Math 3c are gonna be virtually identical anyway
