From what I understand, if you check off the summer session, in addition to fall, there's a better chance of getting accepted. Just curious what the summer session stats may be as compared to the fall stats. My son loves the school but is borderline and I am hoping his chances may be better for the summer.

what are his stats? if you dotn mind me asking? I was what I thought a borderline canidate and I just applied for the summer.

About a 3.0 GPA, with 1230/1800 SATs. He goes to one of NYC specialized high school. It's a very competetive place and very highly ranked in the country, so if he had been at a more 'regular' high school, his average would have without a doubt, been higher. Supposedly admissions does consider this (I honeslty don't know how much), only the top 5% of those taking the citywide admissions test got into his school in the first place, and colleges are aware of this.

He is not a good standardized test taker, and at the end of 10th grade was diagnosed with some cognitive issues primarily affecting processing speed, especially with reading. His school refused to accommodate because he had no prior history and was succeeding in a very competetive place (many kids fail). Collegeboard more or less went along with the schools thoughts. He just can not finish the verbal sections of the SAT. He rushes and makes lots of mistakes. The pyschologist who evaluated him recommended double time, but neither his school nor collegebaord would accommodate.

It hadn't been a problem in earlier years because the work was much less intense and he was able to accommodate. His school has very high expectations and demands, and that's when these cognitive issues really started to kick in.

I know he's much brighter than his stats represent, but unfortunately there's not much more we can do about it. He is retaking his SAT in the fall, and will focus on the verbal. His math is fairly strong.

As far as ECs, he involved with various sports, but no leadership roles.

My S got into summer session with 3.1 UW GPA and 1380 SATs

i got in summer with a 3.54 and a 1150

i got in with a 3.61 and an 1180
