stats vs calc

So Im a junior picking senior classes and I signed up for AP stats, but a little nervous. Im wondering if I should have signed up for calc (it is not too late to change it). Math is probably my worst class, but for me that means like an A- instead of A.
My other senior classes:
AP english
AP gov/honors econ
AP bio
honors spanish 4
creative writing

4.0 gpa unweighted, ~4.4 weighted. Looking at UVA, chapel hill, bucknell, washington and lee, etc.

What should I do? Thanks

If you have consistently recieved As in math and want the most rigorous schedule you can, I would suggest signing up for calc. AP Statistics is generally viewed, if my understanding is correct, as being a more… “lite” course, in comparison to AP Calculus.

If possible, discuss the course and its instructor with either a past student, guidance counselor, the instructor of the course, or even your current instructor. They will know better than I with regards to your institution.

However, senior year tends to be a very busy time. If you think you might be pre-occupied with college admission things, it might be wise to take AP Stats to avoid risking your 4.0 and freeing up a little time to devote towards them.

I took AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Stats while in HS - AP Stats is generally a lot less math-intensive and more conceptual in nature. If you want a more rigorous courseload, take AP Calculus. Additionally, you might understand some AP Stats topics better with a background in calculus, but it is not required.

are you taking the most rigorous classes? or protecting your 4.0? - elite colleges do care

Ask your current math teacher: can s/he imagine you making a B+ or more in AP Calculus (AB for instance)? If so, take Calc. If not, stay with Stats. AP Stats is seen as a “lighter” AP.

Calc all the way. period. CALC! Do it. You won’t regret it. End of story.

Calc.

Ok I’ll probably switch to calc, thanks guys… I just hate math so much

Ask your Math teacher!! And if taking Calc will make you so miserable, take Stats, but compensate by taking something equally rigorous like AP Spanish (you may have to do Concordia Language Camp or serious self study for that).
