I am an auto admit to U.T. but just recently my Eid page told me "Congratulation you have been accepted to U.T. under your second choice major."

My first choice is McCombs school of business, and my second is COLA. Does this mean that I got rejected from U.T. business, or do I just have to wait for them to deliberate further and inform me about my first choice later. I'm holding out hope that I didn't get rejected from McCombs because it never says I was, but does the message I received on my status page mean I got rejected?

Hi. Did you follow the link to get more information? Ours left us with the impression that he was not accepted to his first choice major, but was accepted to his second choice. Both majors are in the same college, for us.

Advice: log back into status check and follow any links to further information.

I did, and it talked about how some people get rejected from their first choice, but admitted on their second choice. I’m of the impression that I got processed through COLA quickly, but that McCombs is still drudging through their applications(at least I hope so)

It never hurts to call them. Call admissions on Monday to clarify. But honestly, I think you were rejected…I may be wrong though, hence you should clarify.

For Business, 75% of spots are allocated o auto-admit. They will start with top 1% and then to top 2% and they keep going until 75% of teh spots are filled. The remaining spots are filled using a wholistic review. Texas law allows this for certain schools like McCombs.
