staying up late

what do you guys do to stay awake when you have tons of assignments and stuff? my parents are adamantly against coke and coffee and stuff... what else do you suggest?

music and the realization that I'll fail if I don't.

Try gum, although your jaw gets tired after awhile.

RED BULL. tell your parents that it's a multivitamin drink or something

Energy drinks are amazing.

Other things that help are keeping the room cool and having a fan blow cold air on your face. Your eyes might dry out but you will stay awake. :D

hey speaking of energy drinks

has anyone tried Cocaine (the drink)? or BuzzWater?

I've tried: Monster, Amp'd, and Red Bull. I don't drink energy drinks very often, but out of those three, Amp'd is the best tasting...Monster probably the most powerful.

Someone said Cocaine was extremely powerful; I might have to try it one day haha.

haha i wish my parents were retarded enough to believe that red bull was a multivitamin drink. although my mom read some article about how multivitamins aren't good for you because they build up a dependency... it's great.

In China, on the Red Bull can it says "Super Vitamin Drink". I don't drink Red Bull, so I have no idea what cans in the US have on them. I just liked the Red Bull cans in China because the drink isn't carbonated and the can isn't tall and skinny like it is here. It's more squat and is gold colored.

Hmmm.

I just stay up. Willpower! Haha. Take a power nap (1-2 hours) around like 12-1 and I think you should be alright as long as you can force yourself to get up after your nap.

I drink lots and lots of water. but i also do use caffeine (diet coke, coffee occasionally.

cold air
cold drinks
music

haha idk. i always have trouble when it hits like 3 am+..

-get up & do some exercises
-take a quick shower
-turn on radio
-try to take a 1-2 hours "nap"... bc your body might "die" the next day with no sleep

Well that works for me so far... haven't tried any energy drinks, but hooked on milk-coffee :D

If caffeine is a non-option, then I'm sure amphetamines are too. But when you hear about kids in college staying up for two days straight, that's how they're doing it.

No substances? A nap is the way to go.

I'm naturally born half-insomniac.

exercise. shower. LIMEEEE/sour stuffs

Yea insomnia definitely helps :), but listening to music while working is helpful.

haha. love the "lime/sour stuffs." those sour ice breakers def keep me awake... for at least a couple secs. haha.

Manage your time in the future...one 3am night working out a 7page outline taught me to stop procrastinating on the truly gigantic assignments.

If you can get up early instead of staying up late, that's sometimes preferable.

Green tea has a reasonable amount of caffeine in it, and it's much better for you than soda or coffee.

Frighteningly, sometimes it's better to just stick it out and stay up all night if you can manage it...personally, I can get through an all-nighter fine, and then I tend to crash around 2pm-ish (perfect for just getting through the day).

While you're working, get up and take breaks to walk around, have a glass of water or other cold drink, etc. I have a box of crackers and a couple bottles of water stored in my room for occasions such as this. Treat it just like you're awake during the day, if you want to have a snack, then go right ahead. Convince yourself that your clock is lying and it's not three in the morning (you could actually change the time on your clock, but this is risky! Make sure to change it back). If you think you're supposed to be awake, then you will consequently be more awake. It's more of a psychological thing I've found.

Also -- chocolate (especially dark chocolate) helps.
