STEP! Who's taking the alternate route?

those it say welcome to Eop? lol

Well I haven't signed the SIR yet, but yes it does.

go sign the SIR. lmao.

Commitment scares the hell out of me

Can this be paralleled to the AVID program in high school? (if anyone knows what AVID is)

Somewhat.

Except it's college prep in the summer directly into college. You get familiar with the school academic and environment, etc before any of the other students even get on to the campus.

yeah it doesn't say you get priority with class registration!!

Do have to sign the SIR before applying for STEP?
It won't affect your chances of getting into the program right?
=)

it shouldnt since decisions for the program are AFTER you the SIR's are due.

anyone have a link to applying for STEP?

Lol nice, Glue.

the link is on your admissions page.

Here are a few pics that I took during STEP (if you have a facebook) btw =P

I did STEP 6 years ago (wow I'm old). We lived in the tercero dorms for that month back then.
One thing that was nice about step is that you'll already know, or recognize people when you start your real classes, so you have someone to sit next to if you're not social enough to sit next to strangers & introduce yourself.

Unlike the previous STEPper that posted, two of the people I met in STEP remained my friends throughout undergrad. One of them is in grad school here like me too. I saw my STEP roomate about a year ago & she didn't even remember me at all, kinda sad.

I hated the experience of STEP. Getting up early & going to class all day sucked, having homework & tests sucked, having to "sign-out" to go home for the weekend sucked. It was like a month of easy but annoying summer school. Everyone was always coming to me for help in chem too, grr.

But STEP was by far WORTH IT - just for the priority registration. OMG, you can not imagine how awesome that is. You will never have to be waitlisted, you will always get the class times you want, it's so great. In those two years you have priority registration you can take the vast majority of your prerequisite classes and even some fun ones that you'd never have a hope of getting into otherwise (tractor driving, any art studio course, etc)

"having to "sign-out" to go home for the weekend sucked."

So students in STEP can't stay in the dorms for the weekends? What about SoCal students?

Yea priority classes is what attracted me to it, also the fact I can review for placement tests (i dont know how hard it will be so better prepared then not lol). How do you sign up~~~grr

No step students can stay. I'm assuming pearl lived nearby and didnt want to stay on campus.

oh...so you must live near Davis to attend it im guessing?

Step students can STAY.

There arent any classes i think on the weekends so you just chill.

Oh my bad, must of misread...

So how DO you sign up for it then?
