ok its getting to be close to the decision deadline and ive already visited both schools, are the advantages at stern too much to pass up?..on university day i didnt really get to see what it would really be like, just more of a sugarcoated presentation. any nyu and especially stern students have any opinions?

It depends...

If you want to work in finance: Stern hands down.

Also, if you're in-state at UNC, how big of a concern is money? If money is not a big deal, its easy, take NYU.

well im out of state to both, but nyu would end up being about 20k more, that i would have to get in some type of loans. also the business school at unc is tied with stern in the current rankings, so would it really make that much of a difference in terms of getting jobs...even wall st. types?

Those rankings don't mean much. For wall street jobs, you really can't go wrong with Stern, Wharton is the only undergrad b-school that can compete with it. If you want to work on wall st., NYU is far above UNC.

undecided, i was actually in the same situation as you but I ended up getting waitlisted at unc so im going to nyu. However, I would like to say IF i had gotten into both nyu and unc, i would've picked unc because of the following reasons: 1) im a huge tar heels sports fan 2) kenan-flager business school is pretty damn good in its own right. 3) its 20 thousand dollars cheaper per year and even though money wasnt a concern of mine, i couldnt possibly justify spending 20 grand more by my parents. 4) unc has better weather.

That being said, I plan on staying in the city after i graduate and im glad im going to nyu. However, UNC is an awesome school too.

For grad school, go to UNC-easier curve and all grad schools care about is gpa. To work on Wall St, go to Stern.

Also I'm pretty sure kenan-Flagler isn't tied with Stern in any rankings, at least not in BW, FT, and The economist (in which in the latter two Stern is among the top 10 worldwide)

in the us news and world report rankings theyre both tied at #5 for undergrad business...so are u guys saying there is almost no chance of workin on wall street type jobs if i dont go to nyu or an ivy type schools, or just that it will be harder to come by, because that is a risk i would probably take

of course there is still a chance to work on wall street if you go to unc, it's just if you go to stern you'll have more opportunities for internships in the city/wall street and therefore you'll already have your foot in the door when you graduate.

quakerman, do you have a link for the FT rankings, please?
