ok ive been to both, and i understand the kind of opportunities there are in new york, but i havent been able to talk to anyone in the business program at unc to know what it would be like?..with all that said..im still leaning towards carolina

anybody have any comments on the business program at unc?...any current or former students in here?

bringing this post up because I am interested in the undergraduate business program at UNC also.

ok guys, i applied to both unc and nyu stern and I'll give you my thoughts on both:

stern: great business school, one of the best in the country and probably the 2nd best school for finance behind wharton. It's located right in nyc so you'll have loads of opportunities for internships. Although theh workload is tough, Stern prepares you for the real world. However, nyu isn't cheap, going to stern will cost you 45k+ a year not including personal expenses.

Kenan Flager: a great business school, great location/weather, an awesome value money wise (25k out of state) unc has great athletics and a BEAUTIFUL campus. However in terms of job placement unc is not as strong as stern.

In the end, I'm going to nyu (general studies program to stern) because a) it's close to where i live and i plan on working in the city after i graduate b) i didnt get into unc lol c) stern's reputation is stronger than unc and I believe you'll make more/stronger connections in nyc. That being said, if i had gotten into unc i'd probably be a tar heel right now. (money was also not a factor for me)

undecided - I'm in the same boat [stern v unc business] except i'm not 100% sure that I'll be pursuing business [though it is a very strong possibility]

tell me what you're thinking, pros/cons, etc. since you'd have to apply to kenan your 3rd year, do you think there's a lesser chance you'll get into it?

As long as you keep your grades up, you'll be fine (at least I hope so).

surely everyone that applies to kenan-Flagler as a UNC sophomore does not get accepted even though they may have the required GPA? Isn't it still a 50% chance?

chocoholic, of course. Not everyone keeps the grades up.

No no no no. What chocoholic was saying is that there is a minimum GPA to apply to KF (3.2 or 3.5, not sure). Out of those fulfilling the minimum GPA to apply, less than 50% are accepted.

what I said was, even though you may have a good gpa, you are not guaranteed acceptance. I read somewhere on this board that half of the eligible applicants do not get in.
