My son was accepted to Stevens today. ED2… we were kind of shocked at what he was awarded… he has a 4.0, 35 ACT, several college courses, is an athlete with several accolades as well as volunteer work and part of national honor society and skills USA. He received $26,000… does anyone know about the appeal process? We will likely appeal to try and get more money… what have been others experiencing regarding awards?
My son applied RD but his two friends applied ED1. Both his friends have similar school rankings and grades, are in AP classes with him, and both have SATs in the 1300’s. Not sure how they did with financial aid but for merit the male got $20K and the female got $40K. I’m in similar boat as you, my son’s top choice is Stevens and his stats are better than his two friends but unless he gets a scholarship for at least half of the total tuition/room/board Stevens is off the table.
My son received $19k. He is also aware of a female with lower stats that got $50k (not sure what portion was need based, if any.) As I understand it, appeals are only need based.
I just got a likely letter today, so I guess that means I’m accepted?

Never heard of a Likely Letter - what is that?
@emeltr Likely letters are sent out by some schools to very high stat applicants saying something like, “although decisions will not be released until (some future date) it is already clear that you will be admitted.” This is a feel good measure that also helps the applicant to plan.
