My son was accepted to Stevens RD… +accelerated masters program invite
SAT/ACT -1520
GPA -4.0 weighted
Major Computer Science
18,000 Merit
6,000 Presidential Scholorship
Still too expensive considering it costs $70k - 24k= 46k per year all inclusive.
Rutgers SAS honors program remains our top choice… Which is about 30k per year even without any scholarship.
Accepted:
3.6 GPA
31 ACT
9 AP
Heavy on the academic competitions and awards, 3 national awards.
Electrical Engineering
16k merit
It’s out of the running… too expensive and he wants a bigger school.
My son was accepted Friday Regular Decsion Engineering Chemical intent.
3.6 GPA
1510 SAT / 33 ACT
7 AP
Eagle Scout, national honors society
$27,000 merit scholarships
I think my son too wants a bigger school but he still hasn’t ruled it out.
Son was accepted Friday regular decision for Mechanical Engineering. $20K in merit scholarships, no financial aid offered.
4.2 Weighted GPA
1460 SAT
32 ACT
Way out of our price range even with the scholarship. But proud of him for getting in. Waiting for other acceptances and then will make the final decision.
Is anyone from here joining Stevens at all and spend about 50K per year after deducting the Merit Scholarships?? Slim chance!
Son is thrilled to be Accepted but we also hoped for more merit. He got $23K.
Does anyone know the difference between “Presidential Merit Award” and “Stevens Scholarship”?
Note also the cost of housing in Hoboken is very $$$. Dorms are only available for freshmen.
And even though the apartments have kitchens, they require purchase of a meal plan.
@CS_Parent , agreed, hard to spend $50,000+ annually after merit when other excellent schools are less than half that cost. Is Steven’s worth the extra $100,000+ over the 4 years? Even if their “ROI” and average starting salary is $5k more annually, it would take 20 years to make that difference up!
@emeltr Exactly…100K is serious money unless you are spending it on a IVY League then the lifelong IVY league tag is worth it! Else good ol instate Rutgers is a great option!
Wondering if anyone accepted to Music and Technology? Son accepted but worried because I see that most accepted have higher grades than his and want to make sure he can hold his own in classes.
SAT / ACT Score: 1270
GPA (W/UW): 3.89

Intended Major: Chemical Engineering
I made sure to get close with my admission counselor. It must of been the interview that got me accepted. I got a really good financial aid package, less than 6K I’ll have to contribute and that’s if I don’t apply for outside scholarships. So happy for everyone who accepted!

I have really strong extracurriculars including being an artist and doing a lot of community service and religious programs with additional schooling on Sundays with traditional classes and grades. I have 3 ap courses and 2 honors courses. I hope I get in as if I get in I will accept and am working on a plan to make a good case for myself including straight A’s and other activities.
My son was accepted to Music and Technology. He was awarded $28K in Merit Scholarship per year and $5K in financial aid. He has a 3.9 unweighted. 1420 on his SATs and 33 on his ACT. 12AP classes and lots of ECs. He was also accepted at Northeastern Music Industry Program and American University. He is leaning towards Northeastern.
My son was accepted as business major. SAT=1540, GPA=4.2, subject tests (biology/math/chemistry)=780 but he did not get any scholarship. does anyone know if Stevens has a good business program?. He was also accepted to University of Richmond and without any scholarships from both school the cost of attending is about the same. So hard to decide which school to attend as business major Stevens or University of Richmond
University of Richmond has an outstanding business school (Robins) and an excellent Career Center.
I know this is an old thread but curious of stats for music and technology and any merit. My son applying for class of 2024 RD
