Since the new SAT has a writing section, most of the top tier schools are only requiring 2 SAT IIs. However, Penn has not reduced its number from 3 tests. Does anyone know if they have made a decision regarding this???

Also, my daughter has not taken any SAT IIs yet- (taking them May and June). She’s taking USHist and Math II. Her third test to take is becoming really difficult. She’s taking Physics right now, but the class is not properly prepping them. She doesn’t want to take Spanish now (not her strongest point) but would rather take it her senior year for placement rather than admissions. The question is can the 3rd SAT II be Math I?

So the SATs she would be taking would be USHist, Math I and Math II. (applying to Wharton) I guess the point is moot if Penn allows for 2 SAT IIs, but just in case…

That link says that for 2006 graduates they haven't determined if they'll reduce the number of SAT IIs. I guess I'm asking if anyone has heard from admissions what they're decision might be, -(Every other school seems to have reduced the number to 2)

When we were at the admissions info session at the end of March, the speaker said they were still requiring 3 SAT IIs. I keep waiting for them to change their mind.

Savvymom- S is in the same boat. He IS going to take Math I and II in May, as well as Literature. He doesn't have a language in which to test (he finished Latin III 2 years ago and hasn't touched it since). Same deal about physics- the teacher said they are not prepared without a lot of prepping. I suspect S will bomb at least one of the May SAT IIs and will prep late summer/early fall and take physics. He is a strong physics student, but they haven't covered enough of the material and he doesn't have time to mess with prepping right now.

I was told that ANY three SAT IIs would be accepted. I think things are a little bit in limbo this year with the change to the new SAT. With the writing component sort of counting as an SAT II, Penn didn't seem to care if both maths were submitted.

most of the sat2 tests are easy to self teach - I know its doabe with physics. Also, if you take apush, you should take the sat2 after you take the ap test.

I took Literature as my third SATII. It is a pretty easy test, just read a couple excerpts from longer works, and then a couple poems, and answer questions about them. Especially if your daughter does well with english/reading type standardized testing, this test would be a good one for her.
