My sons top choice was Finance at VT (we are VA residents). He was devastated when he was waitlisted. Since then he has accepted Ohio State for CS. But being instate would have been our preference due to costs. We hope he gets off the waitlist and has a second change — though now the decision process would be really really hard since he has OSU in the bag. Never understood fully what goes into these admission process where tax paying instate students have to go out of state. Kids with lower SAT scores are getting into VT school of business (i am happy for them, but just makes the criteria more confusing). Congrats to all that are getting off the waitlist and best of luck to others still waiting for a final decision.
Hi @rcaptap . I’m sorry your son did not get into VT. Did he apply and get accepted into any other public universities in Virginia? I agree that if finances matter, your family could save a lot if your son attended in in-state option.
