Straight Up: My Chances at UMiami

Alright so I'm one of those smart kids, but I've slacked a little my freshman year. I want to go to University of Miami very very bad, but then again I'm making other considerations although it's still my dream school. I'm a Junior in one of the top public schools in NJ..

Currently;
GPA: 3.4
SAT (took it once): 1750
IB student, aiming for diploma
Took all honors classes before entering IB level. Now all IB
Expecting to Major Pre-Med/Bio

Took 6 Science Classes
3 History Classes
4 Math
4 English
3 Bussiness

200+ hours of community service
going to do winter tack all years, i did one year of spring.
Involved in history club, FBLA (business)
Winner of a few academic awards, nothing major (national history day states, ect.)

Im stepping into monster work mode right now, im getting almost all a's with one or two b's; im hoping to go up to atleast a 3.5 by the end of the year if not 3.6
Expecting to take the SAT's again, hopefully getting as close to 1900 as possible if not more..

What do you guys think, any people who have gotten in or already attending have advice?

Hey there!
You should be fine
My father is an University of Miami alumni, and he got a FULL ride (not just a full tuition) with a 2100 equivalent SAT and nearly perfect grades… but that’s a full ride.
The average SAT at U of Miami is about 1300-1400, so for the SAT department, consider yourself pretty safe.
Your GPA should be alright as well, just as long as you keep up the good progress.

In conclusions, you should be alright  Good luck!

conclusion*

I wouldn’t be so optimistic. A 1750 is low for Miami. A 3.4 is low for Miami. Raise the GPA this year and shoot for the 1900 and you’ll have a better shot.

yeah i know my specs are borderline here, but the fact that im an IB student, apparently florida schools like um and fsu LOVE that, they’re big with the ib program. but yeah i know im going to keep climbing up higher
