Stress Survey

Because I find this stuff interesting.

I've been reading reports on how our generation, the Millennial Generation, is the statistically the most stressed-out generation. I am interested in hearing your experiences and opinions as they relate to this (keeping in mind that the CC community is not a microcosm of the American high-school aged population).

Some questions I'd like to read some answers to (or just to start a discussion):
In what grade are you?
What type of school to you attend?
How many hours of sleep do you get per night?
On a scale of 0 to 10, the latter being the most stressed, how stressed are you on average?
On "stressful" days, how stressed do you feel on average?
Any reasons for the above numbers?
Considering a typical non-summer month, what is the rough percentage of days you feel stressed?
Do you view this stress as a positive or a negative thing?
Do you think you have gotten more or less stressed throughout high school?

I'll start.
In what grade are you? 12th.
What type of school to you attend? Private, day, co-ed, college-prep.
How many hours of sleep do you get per night, on average? 3 to 4.
On a scale of 0 to 10, the latter being the most stressed, how stressed are you on an average day? 5.
On "stressful" days, how stressed do you feel on average? 9.
Any reasons for the above numbers? Demanding courseload, extracurriculars, two part-time jobs, et cetera et cetera.
Considering a typical non-summer month, what is the rough percentage of days you feel stressed? 80%
Do you view this stress as a positive or a negative thing? When in small bits, I think it's a great motivator. But when I get too stressed I loose motivation to do anything, in which case it's obviously a negative thing to me.
Do you think you have gotten more or less stressed throughout high school? Stress built up until junior year but has since dropped down significantly (WOO).

Looking forward to seeing your answers and possibly discussing.

(PS those who are forum-posting n00bs like me, to bold, do this: [b ]texttexttexttext/b )

In what grade are you?: 11

What type of school to you attend?: Public

How many hours of sleep do you get per night?: 4-5 during the week, 10-11 on the weekends.

On a scale of 0 to 10, the latter being the most stressed, how stressed are you on
average?
: 8.6

On “stressful” days, how stressed do you feel on average?: 9.7

Any reasons for the above numbers?: The numbers themselves are pretty arbitrary, but it’s mostly due to the workload of 6 IB classes, in addition to feeling overwhelmed about the college application/admission process.

Considering a typical non-summer month, what is the rough percentage of days you feel stressed?: 85%

Do you view this stress as a positive or a negative thing?: Positive in the sense that it gives me a sense of urgency to complete assignments, but negative in the sense that it makes me lose motivation.

Do you think you have gotten more or less stressed throughout high school: More, and it’s only going to get worse.

In what grade are you?: 12

What type of school to you attend?: Public

How many hours of sleep do you get per night?: around six

On a scale of 0 to 10, the latter being the most stressed, how stressed are you on average?: 7

On “stressful” days, how stressed do you feel on average?: 9

Any reasons for the above numbers?: I’m a pretty anxious person to begin with - that’s more of my own mentality than school. Especially stressful days are usually caused by pressure from my parents and my course workload.

Considering a typical non-summer month, what is the rough percentage of days you feel stressed?: 85%

Do you view this stress as a positive or a negative thing?: Negative. It doesn’t give me motivation at all; it makes me give up, hah. That’s half the reason I appear to be such a slacker.

Do you think you have gotten more or less stressed throughout high school?: It comes and it goes. This is, again, primarily due to my own mentality and not amount of coursework.

**Do you think you have gotten more or less stressed throughout high school? **More, because I decided to not be a typical senior with an easy courseload - I challenged myself every year with additional demanding classes. I’ve also gained more responsibilities over the years and my mom has to travel a lot for work so I’m left to fend for myself quite a bit (no other family lives with me).
