I dunno. Some P/Cs are sounding a bit crankier of late than they used to.

I can see now that the countdown to Parents Weekend is moving VERRYYY SLOWWWLLYYY. I can appreciate how much these kids will want to wolf down some food (of their own choosing) and then Sleep!

Well Zonker I think I'm going to try your theory. Still getting shopping orders. Now he wants food. Brought chicken cutlets and pasta up to him today to give him a break from school food. What do you think the pay back should be for hand delivered items?

this is definitely the case. my P/C was at annapolis in 2005 for a sports camp and said the food at King Hall was good. Son number two was at the same camp this summer and stated it was awlful - due to rennovations the meals were pre-cooked, nuked and served. He felt MRE's would have been better.

My son likes to cook and he has said that he would love to teach them how to make gravy, so maybe having someone else cook would be a good thing.

My son LOVES MREs (ok , a few aren't so hot). But makes a day at the paintball field much nicer. And 2010BandCoMom, my son likes to EAT. . . So, maybe our two boys would make a team -- in the Odd Couple/Felix Unger-Oscar Madison kind of way. :D :D :D

zonker - my son does like to cook and on camp outs a few MREs are okay but he would prefer making biscuits and gravy and red beans and rice and egg burritos - even at the campouts. He has always hated the food there because we do have a lot of good cooks in the family.

STRESSSSSED OUUUUUUUUUUUTTT!!!
(Mom, not Son)
....My P/C fractured his right foot a week ago playing basketball. I've sent the plastic garbage bags to cover the cast in shower & the socks he requested. Of all times, right before his B'day last week. Not too much info from him...found out on Monday via his phone call from Patten Hall.

To add insult to injury, he put a gash in his arm from slipping on crutches hobbling to class when it rained.
My son, the California Guy... Is getting a Heavy dose of East Coast "character building"....

Please tell me how this impacts his involvement in activities.
(He doesn't say much in e-mails, I think he's pretty down, since he was so revved up the Sunday before.) Thank God he didn't break it during INDOC...But now Parent's Week... URGGGGG....

Also...Thanks for the great tip on ordering the B'day cake from Delano Hall.

PJMom ~ A few of us have been "talking" off-site and this sentiment seems to be an epidemic. On this rollercoaster ride, I think they are on the decline, but soon to be lifted with P/W - hopefully! For mine, I was thinking that he was hearing (IM) from all of his regular college friends who are - at this point - going through orientation and all of the fun activities/parties/girls that go along with that while he, meanwhile, is under the stress of midterm tests, tattoos, labs, reports, etc. I was there last Sunday and brought a gang of them lunch and I could feel the lack of energy in the air - compared to my last visit a month ago. So given your son's physical state and what seems to be a universal emotional state of the PCs, he may be down...but the good news is that I think they are on the upswing - especially with the long weekend ahead. I hope they do something fun.
