Stress!!!!!!

Last year, my son got off crutches just before PW because of a stress fracture. He was not released by the doctor to run at the time of the acceptance so he was there with all of the others as they did the acceptance but he was told not to respond and he was not given his Eagle. So, if your son is not allowed to get his Eagle over parents weekend, after he heals and the doctor releases him from physical restrictions, he will have his own little pledge time and get his Eagle then. I just don't want this to be a surprise if it happens to you. I am sure that if it does, he will not be alone. There were several others with my son.
Hope he gets off the crutches soon. It is hard to get around up there with them.

PW will be a regassing of their engines
They are really looking forward to showing
off their new situations
campus and way of life
and they really need to see your pride
in your eyes

my experience from last year is
that this first half of plebe year
is the "what doesnt kill me, only
makes me stronger" time

a few will leave over next couple months
but most should end up much stronger

these kids are doing a major
internal growth spurt
the kids you see at pw weekend will already
be new and improved
the ones you see at Christmas will be
even more highly refined
by recognition
they are much more comfortable
in their new skins

PJ, i just talked to your son last night actually walking back from chow. he's doing ok. here's something that's good to know, your kid will complain to you and go all out. you're their only outlet at this point, thus you get it all. he's ok, he might be a little down in his spirit, but he's still here, he's still living, it's nice outside, and you just gotta be supportive. i'm not saying you are, but fair warning to all parents: DO NOT CODDLE HIM! be understanding and a pillar of support, but nursing the "poor me" attitude will only make things worse. that just makes it all the easier to see the bad side of things. remind him of all the accomplishments he's made in even the last few months. this place is what truly separates the boys from the men.
i'm not discounting his injury in any means. that would make things around here a lot more difficult. however, he can't control the fact that he's hurt, but he can control his attitude about it. he will make it, if he wants to. this place is not impossible, even with a broken foot. all he needs is some motivation, and some love and support from back home.
with that said, i assure you, he seemed pretty upbeat for a P/C when i talked to him last night. i asked him what he did, he told me the story, and had a half grin on his face the whole time. he'll be back at it before you know it. try not to worry too much, he's in good hands.
:)

2day
knows everybody

iS2DAY...

You MADE my day!!! Glad you took a "pulse" of my son. Since he's son #6, he's used to pulling his weight in the family---now the KP family. He's been in more serious medical situations, yet not 3000 miles away~
Thanks for reminding me not to "coddle"...& reassuring me he's in good, no GREAT hands.

I MUST meet you on Parent's Weekend!

...Now to address the bill from North Shore LIJ health System ;)

i'm OK,
he's OK!

there we go momma, glad to hear you're ok now. :)

mom

and as life goes on
they are usually right

stress less

BASK in his successes
instead

im alerting my 3/c redhead

Ahh, this is actually going to be a pain in the rear for you if the past is any indication. This brings up a good point though...

Parents: Remind your children that their home address is their Kings Point address for all medical care received at outside hospitals (North Shore, etc). If they use their real home address the parents will get a nice bill from LIJ and it becomes a pain to fix. If they use the KP address the bill goes to KP where it belongs.

Funny, we saw son last night at football game. My husband just told me tonight he thought for the first time my son was depressed. (Maybe the 48-7 loss could have done it). He tells us he is starving up there. A lot of times he misses dinner after football practice because he can't eat right afterwards and needs time to wind down. By then no food available. And can't have food in room. He's finding this a dliemma. When can they start having food in their room?

Sports teams that miss dinner can usually get a boxed lunch. If all else fails he could bum a protein bar off someone. People usually have a bit of stash to spare

stressed folks

dream of this

next year
this same weekend
your 3/c kid
could be home for the weekend

it happens
mines in her old bed

They are allowed food after recognition. They are allowed NCAA approved supplements though. Many of them act as a food and can be quite filling if he is in to that.

Sailing team misses dinner too (I'm guessing many sports do?). Son says he eats good bfast & lunch, protein bar for dinner.

Do P/Cs get Columbus Day weekend liberty? It's not clear on the regimental calendar.

My son in 3rd company says he is still not allowed protein bars in his room. When will all the companies be allowed the bars. Yes it would be nice on those missed meal days.

Where can I find out what is allowed on the NCAA approved supplements? I have googled online to no avail.

Here's the site for information on what's approved for the NCAA:

http://www.drugfreesport.com/REC/home.asp

They got back to me in one day on the supplements that my son wanted to take. Looking to send supplements to your son/daughter; I found this site that will beat all other competitors' online prices by 5%.

supplementwarehouse.com

Go MARINERS!!! BEAT GC!!!
*** RECONGIZE 2011 ***

Supportmom,

3rd company is LCDR Ragin's company. He is a very intense individual who has a tendency to make regulations that other companies do not have to follow. So basically you never really know when rules will change if you live in 3rd co.

Tried the link myself and saw that you need to login with a password.

Scroll to Division III, enter ncaa3 as the password. Now you can click on "Banned Drug Inquiry" and ask about the particular supplement your athlete is taking to if it's banned by the NCAA. As I said before, They got back to me in one day.

anothermidn2008 will the rules changing at 3rd company apply until after recognition or should things lighten up after parents weekend?

Supportmom,

I honestly couldn't tell you for sure. I would generally assume that the rules will lighten up, as they normally do after acceptance.

Sorry but I don't think protein bars are doing it for him. Not after eating 6 full meals a day before he left for KP. He wanted to gain weight for football and did. But now it's gone.
