Do any of you have suggestions for the best way to mount a lightweight bulletin board or similar items on the dorm walls? I've heard that SC is fairly stern about marks on the walls at the end of the year, so I'm hoping there's a miracle product that sticks without pulling the paint off when it's removed. Thanks!

I was wondering this too! What can/can't we use?

There IS an adhesive hook product that purports to leave no marks, but I have used it and it peels old paint off with it when the adhesive hook is removed so be careful. Can't the kids simply put a hole in the wall and spackle/sand it at the end of the year? How much damage can one tiny nail do?

I thought there WAS a cork board already available in the rooms?

I think the Parkside suites have a corkboard wall in the little common area, but not in the rooms themselves. Maybe the other dorms are set up differently.

I've personally had he most success with 3M's Command picture hanging strips. As long as you take them off properly, they don't peel off paint. I use them for posters and for my white board.

Nikara to the rescue! Thanks. :)

I know that Birnkrant and New-North have corkboards in the rooms, but I'm not sure about the other dorms.

Be very careful with what you use. My d was charged $160 for wall "damage" at the end of last year. As far as I know, she used that blue tacky product. She also hung 4 very small, white hooks in the back (fairly invisible) of the closet. Ask your RA when you move in.

The big thing is to make sure to report everything that is damaged when you move in! Be exacting! If any of your shades aren't there, if any paint is chipped, make sure to note it down- more is better than less. Then you won't get charged for things done by other previous residents.
