what are the best places to work on campus? are there any esp. popular departments , jobs where you really learn something? perhaps a dept that is known to have employess that go above and beyond caring for and nurturing the students?
is admissions a fun place to work? how hard is it to get a position to work there?

The most interesting place to work I had while a students at FSU was in the Clerk's Office of the House of Representatives in the Capitol.

Each legislative session students may be hired to work in various jobs in and around the Legislature. Call the Clerk's Office or stop by and ask about session employment. This may be hard to secure...

I also worked as a "volunteer" (we were actually well paid) fireman for the USDA Forest Service in the National Forest. The ad for this job was on the radio, looking for temporary firemen. The full-time firemen trained us and we helped "mop-up" as they called it fires in the Apalachicola National Forest started by lightning. Very hot, dirty work with hand tools. Great adventure, though. :)

I later found work as an student assistant accounting aide in the purchasing office of the Institute of Molecular Biophysics. This involved some easy accounting duties and filing, plus running down research materials for the professors in that department.

Another job that was interesting was at a Motorola two-way radio shop, installing two-way radios.

State government also has "OPS" jobs at myriad agencies and look for university students.

some exciting jobs for a student indeed! thanks for sharing.
