Hi guys,

I'm looking to transfer next year to USC as an English major and had a few questions.

1) Does USC care more about your major GPA or cumulative GPA

2) On the transfer brochure, USC does not like students taking CR/NC courses. However, they said "too many Pass/Fails could affect admission decision" ... in your opinion what is too many?

Thanks everyone!

From the information I gathered, your major GPA might matter more. To transfer into my program, I had no major prerequisites, so my cumulative GPA was looked at. When I began panicking about getting one B in a class, I was told that since it had nothing to do with my major, I could afford one B.

At one of the transfer information sessions, I was told that it was unacceptable to do a pass/fail class for a major prerequisite or the writing and math requirements. I know that they will generally not look down upon one W, so I would assume they would not look down upon one fail. USC does NOT forgive retaken classes however.

On CC there is a transfer forum. USC has a long thread on that forum. You may find many of your questions answered there.

Okay I am going to be applying as English, and so far, I have A+'s in all my english classes (only taken 3 so far). Yes you probably read my past posts…im retaking calc this quarter and im doing much better. So do they calculate both of the grades in??

I posted the CR/NC for a friend who is also interested in attendin usc next year. She already has 2 CR/NC on her transcript… They are both Passes though. Should she be worried? She’s applying as a Sociology major.
