Studying Abroad as a Transfer?

I was wondering has anyone done this and is it possible to study abroad your very first semester?
If you did study abroad as a transfer were you able to take major requirements? (specifically engineering/computer science)
I’d really like to study abroad but also don’t want to fall behind but 3rd year seems to be better than 4th year.

I don’t think its possible because you usually need to submit an application the quarter/semester before studying abroad. In order to submit an application, you need to be concurrently enrolled, to my understanding. I’d definitely get other opinions though.

As an engineering student you likely will not be able to because the track is so specific for course work unless you are okay with delaying your graduation date. Otherwise, you are able to study abroad in the fall after you transfer at UCSB I know for sure because I contacted them via email and they responded with this information. I would need to complete an orientation during the summer in person but otherwise would have been able to study abroad (although I have since decided not to because of financial resources).
