Stupid question, but I'm curious

To current/past UC students: is the envelope really bigger/fatter if you got in to a particular UC and smaller/skinny if you were rejected? In other words, if you get a small-ish envelope from a particular school will you know even before you open it that you didn’t get in? (Silly question, but I really want to know…)

Yep. Acceptance letters usually come in huge, fancy envelopes whereas rejection letters come in plain, regular-sized envelopes. I found out my admission statuses online before I got any letters, though. It made that rejection letter hurt just a bit less. Haha

ya, my sister's rejection envelopes came in small regular envelopes and the acceptance envlopes came in big 8x10 ones.

yeah and UCR has this big envelope and it even says, "YOU'VE BEEN ACCEPTED" in huge letters in the front. lol

You'll find out online before you get any sort of letters though.

Its funny cuz i got an acceptance letter that came in a small envelope..i thought it was a rejection letter so i felt horrible before i opened it..but then the letter said "congrats you've been accepted for the fall 2007 semester." i guess they come in all shapes and sizes so never get discouraged if u get small envelopes cuz u never know nowadays. yea acceptance letters do come in small envelopes..go figure

cali_girl, what UC sent this? I've seen rejection/acceptance letters for all the UCs and personally received rejection/acceptance letters from five of the UCs, and the trend held true for all of them: small envelope = rejection, big envelope = acceptance.

i believe UCLA is small

I'm gonna guess it was a non-UC college since no UC has yet accepted anyone and no UC is on the semester system other than Berkeley and Merced.

i meant CSU b/c its on rolling admissions..im still waiting for UCs in March..but my friend did get into UCLA & they sent him a small envelope..so i guess it does come in small envelopes for UCs? shrugs..the long wait till March is so painstaking

oh yea i meant my friend who got into UCLA LAST YEAR lol..cuz UC didnt send it out yet..

Yeah you find out online before you get any letters. If you're rejected from Berkeley (like me) you get no letters and just an online rejection. UCLA gives out huge acceptance letters a few days after you get notice online.
