How do these undergrad programs compare in terms of ranking (please provide a link to source)? In the specialty of Public Relations? Print journalism? Broadcast journalism? Career Centers for first jobs? Thanks!

Newhouse - one of the best journalism schools (how I know this? I don't know) I think it's on par with Cornell's communications program which is also up there. -also if you're looking at schools at MA, I think Emerson College has a better journalism/communications program because that's their specialty.

Newhouse is the best broadcast in the country. Newhouse as a whole is on par with only 2 schools: Mizzou and Medill (Northwestern's). The dean gave a speech to that effect, and it is reinforced by rankings (though they aren't up to date). For print they're generally known as number 3. Students say internships and jobs are not a problem. Alumni lists are good indicators.

I am a Newhouse grad, and one of my best friends is a BU grad. We had nearly identical internships and met when we were co-workers in our first job. Judging from our personal successes (two years out of college) I would say the graduates of those programs do equally well. I will say, though, that Newhouse tends to get more of an "oh!" factor in interviews and around the office, though BU commands respect as well.

I don't know about official rankings. However, my daughter is a student at Newhouse. She agonized between BU and Newhouse and chose Newhouse because of their reputation and because of the merit aid offered. The Newhouse name has opened doors in terms of internships. This summer she has an internship that is extremely difficult to get, which she got through a contact who is a Newhouse alumni. She has found that the media in NY are full of Newhouse alumni and they are all potential contacts. She is also having the time of her life at Syracuse and couldn't be happier.

new house is considered to be better in general.
go to google and type in: cnn reporters

BU’s Journalism school just doesn’t compare.
