<p>So I didn’t do well at all on my subject tests. Are they huge factors at Barnard?</p>
<p>I don’t know any more than you do, but it might be possible to retake them in January and still have them considered, especially if you tell them you’re doing it. You have a week anyway to decide whether to sign up for Jan tests.</p>
<p>If it helps, I got a 650 Lit and I was accepted ED. I don’t think Barnard weights standardized testing as much as a lot of other aspects of the application so if you have weak SAT IIs but the rest of your application is strong I highly doubt they’ll rule you out. Still, they probably have higher expectations for SAT IIs than the SAT I because people generally choose to take tests in their strongest subjects, so if your scores are well below a 600 then I’d say they’re worth retaking.</p>
<p>I would also imagine that Barnard (and any other school) takes into consideration how challenging your SAT IIs are. For example, they’ll probably be a lot more forgiving for someone did poorly on Latin, Lit, or foreign language than someone who did poorly on US History or Math I.</p>
<p>If your SAT IIs are really bad and you’re really concerned about them, then maybe take the ACT? That’s what I did (never took the SAT I, just the subject tests) and then submitting SAT IIs is optional. I got a 600 on Spanish, a 590 on lit, and a 730 on US History, so I just submitted my ACT scores and US History since I did well.</p>
<p>Just so you know, Barnard doesn’t accept the January SAT. Their website clearly states: “Regular Decision applicants should take all required examinations before January.” Stand out on the rest of your application, especially in your essays and show that you’re passionate about studying at Barnard and that you have a lot to contribute. Most importantly, show that you’re more than just a number! </p>
<p>I know how you feel by the way. I just applied here. My CR+M (610 and 620 respectively) scores are low but I’m still confident that I’ll get in because I spent a lot of time perfecting my application and clearly conveyed that Barnard and I were meant to be. If it’s meant to be, you’ll definitely get in.</p>

<p>If you think you can bring your scores up and are applying other places, you still might want to retake. I know Harvard at least accepts Jan scores, so others may. The worst Barnard could do is ignore them.</p>
