Successful AP Rescore Stories?

I don’t mean this in a rude way, but often there probably isn’t a grading mistake. People are probably significantly more nervous on the day of the actual test and will therefore perform worse.

Also, just a random question…is it possible that someone could ask to be rescored and end up with a lower grade? Like would they change it to the lower grade?

I want to re-score my exam. Any ideas of WHAT should I write down on the letter I’ll be sending to CB?

GoodUni: If your original score was a 1 and your expected was a 4, then what is your new, ‘‘re-scored’’ score? I’m just curious to know.

One last question: Who should the check be made out to? College Board, or AP Exams? (as the AP results letter says for essay requests)

I wrote down “AP Services” because that’s what it says on the envelope I reveied my score in.

Odd. Mine says “AP Exams.” It’s fine, anyways. I’m faxing (I know, it’s so 20 years ago) a request with a credit card number. I think there less of a chance that the request will go unnoticed.

Anaychi: So what’s your story?

As clich

Well, I hope CB made a mistake and get you a 4 or a 5.

Thanks a lot! I hope you get some fortunate news your way also.

Thanks! :)

How often is it that Collegeboard makes mistakes? Does it happen often or is it more likely that we are just assuming that we should have done better?

I had received a one on my AP Chemistry exam although I’m not the best in the class I didn’t expect my score to be so low. I do want to get it re-scored because I felt that I did pretty well on the multiple choice and answered most of the questions on the FRQ’s shouldn’t that at least give me a two?? What I’m afraid of losing my ( mom’s) money and the grade being the same…

Someone who did nothing in my class got a two , that says something…

Nerdpax: Same! I know people who drew pictures on the Euro exam and got a 2, meanwhile I tried my hardest and studied like a crazy person and got a 1. I don’t get it.

In my opinion, if you think you are confident that your score is not what you should have gotten, you should go ahead and ask for a re-score. It’s $25, which is a fairly affordable price. It’s better to be corroborated of your score or to get a better score (hopefully), than to regret not getting a re-score and wondering your entire life what the score could have been. Even if the score remains the same, at least you’re reassured that no mistake was made the first time, and you’re getting the correct score you performed at.

That sounds good. I will most likely send in money for a rescore soon.

To those of you who paid for a re-score, did you receive a verifying receipt yet? I sent my re-score request by mail on the 18th of this month and still haven’t gotten anything from College Board (AP Services).

Hey guys, I read most of the stories and for those of you who received a 1-2, you’re not alone…

I go to a private high school in so cal and it’s very competitive, and I’m a good student who thought he did well on the AP Chem exam. I got an A- both 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter, and a B+ 4th quarter… I studied hard for the exam and took many practice portions, scoring average-above average on all of them. I had then taken the SAT2 test the following weekend, and got a 680 which I feel is respectable.

When I saw my AP test grade was a 1 I absolutely freaked out, laughed with my mom as it’s a class I took out of a small amount of interest with no intention of pursuing, and we let bygones be bygones.

Because I studied so hard and put so much effort in the class I believed that I would get a 4, and would be pleasantly surprised with a 5, but be disappointed with a 3. This was my 1st AP exam so I was a bit nervous and our instructor sped through the intro and I was a bit lost, be I don’t know if that was the problem.

**I did note that I had answered all the questions and had 5 minutes to go over work, and I felt somewhat confident after completing the essays, EXCEPT, after completing the first 2 essays, i skipped the 3rd and went on to the last 1, then went back to the 3rd. I DID NOT SKIP TO THE DESIGNATED SECTION FOR THE 4TH QUESTION, AS I ANSWERED IT IN THE AREA FOR QUESTION 3. Then, I answered the 3rd question in the area for the 4th question, and wrote a note on both pages explaining that I had answered it in the wrong place, and i put #3 and #4 above the actual essays.

If this makes sense, you’ll understand that this may be the result of my poor score, accompanied by the fact that I was extremely anxious, and may have put my MC in the wrong category, although that makes me seem very SLOW.

if my explanation about the essay problem doesn’t make sense, i basically just put the #4 essay in the #3 spot as i had skipped the 3rd essay and proceeded to the last one. Then I realized that I had no choice but to answer the 3rd question in the #4 essay space.

I plan to contact collegeboard and hopefully get this resolved as a 4 may allow me to skip a semester of science in college, so this would be nice.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE A NUMBER I CAN CALL, because i’ve been on the website and I have been getting nowhere. i saw the address to send my plea to, but can anybody send me the info on the actual collegeboard site so i can make sure it goes to the right place?

p.s. i believe calling would be best since i could explain my problem better and answer follow up questions

Try this: [Contact AP - Advanced Placement Contact](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Get the Most Out of AP – AP Students | College Board)

I’m not totally sure, but I think calling them will cost $8 -just so you know.

If it’s no bother, please share your experience with us. I bet we’ll be glad to read it.

Good luck with your re-score!

nah I havent recieved anything and I sent mine around the same time.
