I sent my letter on August 18th. I got their reply today. It said that my score didn’t change. So, after working my butt off studying all year long, I end up scoring a 1? I feel so “butthurted” right now… Oh well. Like Confucius once said “Our greatest glory is not on never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” I feel like crap.

I agree with you, @eagles94. I don’t plan on retaking the AP Bio exam, though, since I don’t really need the college credit. Even if I had gotten a 5, it wouldn’t mean anything special because, ironically, I plan to major in Economics. The only reason why I took AP Bio is so I could experience college-level classes. Getting a 1 is not good, I know, but I tried my hardest and I am satisfied I got good grades all year long. Also, getting a 1 won’t stop me from taking more AP classes. Next year I will be taking Calc, Chem, and Lit. This time, though, I know I should prepare myself better. Wish me luck! :)

Aight bro good luck! Remember next year not to only focus on grades in the class. Go through whats gonna be tested on each test and review those topics alot wit a good review book. As you realized already, the class doesnt always give full prep.

@einstino…i was very confident it would change, especially after seeing the scoring guidelines. i scored a 66/70 on the practice multiple choice my teacher gave us and i didn’t find the ones on the actual test harder at all. to be honest, before they came in the mail, i thought i was on the fence between a 4 and a 5.

@wynter, I understand how you feel; I didn’t expect such a low score either. That way I look at it is… It’s true, I worked hard all year long studying for the test, and failed. I consider myself to be smart, but I also confess that I failed on this one. We learn from our mistakes -even the best fail sometimes. Don’t live your days thinking you’re not smart enough for anything; College Board is just a bunch of losers who didn’t have the opportunities we are now having, academically (that’s why they spend their days checking thousands of tests). That’s why they are so “strict” when it comes to revising tests.

Life doesn’t end just because you failed a test, my friend. Statistically speaking, failure, more than success, is more probable to happen. It’s true there’s a bunch of losers out there, but don’t try comparing yourself with others. You’re as unique as I am. We have our weaknesses and strengths; we’ve tasted both failure and success, and now that we know the difference in “taste,” we should move on and make sure we try harder next time. If life doesn’t seem to give a second chance, make yourself your second chance.

I agree with most of you on here. After reading this forum, I almost feel as if a TON of people get 1’s and 2’s on the AP Exam. But, nonetheless, I’ll tell you guys my story.

I got my AP Score for the AP Gov exam in mid-July. I opened the letter happily, looking forward to see the five that I knew I deserved; my happiness was cut short when I looked at the paper. A 2? HOW CAN I GET A 2? It was something that I couldn’t have conjured up in my worst nightmare. I was at the top of the class, won awards for my high grades in AP Government, and kept a consistent 97 in the class. Being a freshman in high school, I was unsure as to how to handle the situation. I freaked out, knowing that a 2 on one of the easiest AP exams will smash my chances of going to the Ivy League college of my dreams.

Well, after some research, I did what most of you would have done. I applied for a rescore and asked CB to send me my FRQ booklet. I waited for weeks and weeks alongside another hardworking friend of mine who also got a two. Eventually, we lost interest in waiting, and went on with our mass of schoolwork. Yesterday, I was leaving for a violin lesson when my instinct told me to check the mail. Just as I had suspected, a letter from CB was sitting right at the top of the stack of mail. It was the results from my rescore. I opened it, expecting CB to have admitted to their mistakes, but, yet again, I was disappointed beyond belief. The letter stated that I had gotten a 2, just as my original report had stated.

My first instinct was to suspect some sort of a scam. CB still hadn’t sent me my FRQ booklet (and yes, it’s been more that 5 weeks), and my friend got his report (stating the same exact thing) on the same day. His brother, by the way, didn’t take the course (and didn’t study for it!) but got a 4. It was mindblowing. After a couple of hours of crying my heart out, I started taking things into account. My parents had already sided with the CB, telling me that I must’ve done something wrong during the test. I mean, I guess it’s possible, but they don’t understand. I am a sheer PERFECTIONIST. I am literally OCD, making it hard for me to make a mis-bubbling mistake (if that’s what it’s called) even if I wanted to. I just don’t understand. What could’ve gone wrong? Even the worst students in my class came out with a 4. How can I get a 2? It’s literally driving me crazy, and it’s not one of those things that I can easily forget about and move on.

S**t happens - I applied for a rescore this year just for kicks, but I didn’t expect much. On most of these tests, 50%+ of these students score a 3 or less.

It would be nice if I got credit for lit, but it was a $87 investment that I don’t regret making considering i’m walking into college with credit for 5 other classes.

I would advise people on this board to stop freaking out and put everything into perspective, but this is CC - the pinnacle of freak-out kids.

Just remember that in the end, everything you do in life is a waste of time if you never take time to enjoy yourself. It’s great to be competitive, but you don’t want to end up regretting everything just because you were so focused on being at the top of the food chain all the time.

@einstino sry for the late reply…been doing my summer ap hw. ugh. anyways. i seriously studied my butt off this yr and even got a B in english honors in order to ace my ap bio test. no kidding i thought the test was pretty easy. i came out thinking i at least got a four and when i got my rescore letter and i think it came in quite early. i recieved it on the third week rather on the fifith and got my booklet with it. the letter just says tht my previous score is correct. ugh. i guess i’ll just have to work harder for ap chem and ap euro this yr -_____-x oh btw i got a 2. i wonder if the school got the same score…

@Linda200507 I agree with you in that we have to work a little harder. I will be taking AP Chemistry and AP Calculus AB. I plan to start studying a lot earlier this time. I even bought Barron’s books for each class. I know I will do better this time. Good luck to you!

Does anyone mind providing me with a working/successful fax number for rescores? I’ve having trouble finding them, due to the Collegeboard’s ridiculously confusing website and conflicting answers on CC. Someone who used fax with success would probably be able to help me.

What’s weird is that I requested both an MC rescore and my FRQs for my Calc exam more than a month ago. The MC rescore came back promptly (there was no error there), but there is still no sign of my FRQs. I’m wondering if I should call CB.

So apparently I got a 2 on AP Government, I consider it impossible. I can only think of maybe 3 questions I wasn’t sure about, and I knew everything but one thing brought up on the free response, I’d always get a 4-5 on practice tests. It’s a subject that I love. I got a two in Economics, a subject that I didn’t pay attention to or try at all for so I’m positive there’s a mistake.

I even told my teacher, if I didn’t get a 5 I’d be a tattoo artist seeing I want to major in Politics, of course it was a joke, but still, I could skip Intro to Gov. and go right into my major, but nope. Now I have to pay these guys for a rescore, and the stories here about them ‘not receiving the request’ really discourage me.

And seeing it’ll take 6+ weeks and I have to choose my college classes in two weeks just sucks. /=

I don’t know, I think there was something funny about AP Government this year, I got a 4 even though I scored near perfect on all the released Multiple Choice and fairly well on the FRQ. I will be rescoring.

Go ahead and rescore your 2, you seem like someone who seems quite intelligent and knew the material. I wouldn’t be surprised if they messed up the multiple choice forms

I’m having the same problem with AP Government. After the test, I walked out thinking it was the easiest AP exam I had ever taken. I had an A average all year in class, and I made good use of my teacher’s review books, scoring very well on all the practice exams. Yet, like Cristaly, I received a score of 2. I got a 4 on AP Lit, and I felt less confident during that exam despite my great interest in English.

I’m not sure if I should rescore because even a 4 or 5 won’t do a thing for me in college due to the way its course requirements are laid out. In other words, I don’t need the credit, but I feel I at least deserved it. I think I’ll have a talk with my teacher or AP counselor. I’m all sorts of confused at the moment.
