Successful AP Rescore Stories?

So I just heard my AP Biology score on the phone and learned that I had received a 2. I am completely shocked that I received anything lower than a 4. I was so confident that I got a 5 on the test. I am waiting for the score report to come in the mail in the third week of this month just incase the phone scoring made an error (let’s hope it did :D). If it didn’t and the score report says that I did, in fact, receive a 2, I am going to get my FRQ Booklet and have my test rescored.

Has anyone ever had an experience where the phone was incorrect? I still cant believe I got a 2 on the english comp…

^ I was kind of wondering the same thing…

I am wondering if a rescore would include having different readers grade the essays. I got a 4 on the APUSH. Considering that I got 5s on all my other APs and know my multiple choice score should have made it very easy (like an average of 4s on the essays) for me to get a 5 on the FRQs, I think that a reader may not have been able to read one of my essays (I have pretty bad handwriting) and gave it a 0 or a very low score. So, if that was the reason, would a rescore give me a chance to get a 5?

^Rescoring does not “rescore” the entire test – only the MC.

They couldn’t have LOST the FRQ’s which is what happens for most rescores. You can’t rescore a 4 and get a 5, the mistakes don’t ever happen like that.

Readers do EVERYTHING to try to understand bad handwriting. If you’ve gotten 5’s on your other AP’s than your handwriting must be legible.

What happens for rescores is CB lost the FRQ’s so the person only gets a 2. They call, find this out. Then scale the score to the MC. Or some other variation of CB screwing up and them making it right.

Oh, order your FRQ books and see how legible you were lol

hey guys I just called on the only AP exam I took (as my school only offers AP Lit. and Comp and Computer Science A) and I recieved a 2 on the Literature and Comp. exam. :frowning: I could’ve sworn I got atleast a 3!!! I even had a friend who also called in who was equal to me in strength throughout the year and he recieved a 4. I was blown away. Is there any possible way the phone couldve been a mistake as I took several practice exams and was borderline 4 every time? I just can’t imagine I did that bad and now I feel this will effect my chances at the schools I sent the score to. <<<Will it have any effect at all??? I’m going to be a senior and want to major in engineering but i still feel like this will hurt my chances

Anyone know if it’s too late to rescore my APUSH exam from last year?

I believe you have to request the rescore by October 31 in the year you took the exam.

I took the AP US History exam in 2010 and scored a 2 on it, which I have not been able to get past to this day…lol jk it haunts me here and there. I was disheartened by that score but didn’t follow through with the rescore service, which I probably should have done considering I got consistent 4’s on in class practice tests. Who knows what I would’ve gotten had I rescored that test.
This year I’m not repeating that mistake. I got a 3 on both AP English Lit and AP Biology, which I am not satisfied with considering how much I studied for each exam and how confident I am that I scored at least a 4 on each. It also makes a huge difference for me, as in I’ll be saving ~$3000-$4000 per class I get credit for. I decided to make the $64 investment for both tests to get rescored and to get the Free-Response Booklets by mail for each to make sure those were factored into the calculation of my final scores. Hope that these tests turn out well and wish the rest of you luck in your own rescoring attempts!

My son got much lower score than he expected and wants to rescore or retake the test. It’s possible he put 3 colleges to report his score on his AP answer sheet. When CB will release that score to those colleges? I found you can withhold your scores by June 15 but which year? If it’s the same year you took a test you still don’t know your scores.

CB has already released the scores to colleges. It’s June 15 of the same year. Withholding is for when you walk out of the test and know you bombed it.

Don’t rescore unless it’s a 1 or a 2 and he expected a 5. He can’t retake until next May.

My son got 3 on APEH and APWH. He didn’t have an APEH at school. The second test he most likely misbubbled or put a wrong code. He expected 5 on it. His teacher told AP scores wouldn’t affect admission at all and it’s just to get those credits. I wish I checked it before my son took these tests. Now we don’t even remember which colleges we marked to send these scores. Is it possible to find out? What if he retakes a test? He is going to apply to schools like MIT.

I don’t know if there’s a way to figure out which schools they were sent to if you don’t know. I refuse to send colleges scores before I know them myself, so I’ve never used AP’s auto-reporting services.

His teacher, for all I’ve heard, is right. MIT won’t care very much about history test scores. You could just choose not to include them, since AP scores are self-reported on apps. Unless they already got sent. Either way, I highly doubt those scores would affect admissions chances to MIT.

Is he a rising senior? The only real reason for retaking the test at the end of senior year would be if the college he goes to gives credit for a higher score on that test. If you retake a test, both scores show up on your AP report, but you can cancel the old one using this form: http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/miscellaneous/AP_Score_Cancellation_Form_2011-12.pdf

Thanks! My son is going to be a junior this year. He’ll have just 2 AP tests this year. Unfortunately I wasn’t good informed before my son took these tests.

I’m actually more interested in AP rescore un-success stories. Because right now, everyone’s making me doubting the integrity of CB. I mean, why doesn’t CB /know/ they lost your FRQ’s, multiple choice, errors in scoring, etc.

I got a 4 on english lang and I thought I got a 5. Should I re-score or accept the 4?

Accept the 4. College Board doesn’t make mistakes that would cause a 5 to be scored as a 4.

I shouldn’t have read this thread. My scores are waiting for me at my house and I keep having nightmares about drastic errors that won’t be fixed >.<

guys I think only 8% of people got 5’s on lit… so lower scores than you expected might be common
