Hey I am going to apply to UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI as a transfer this fall. I currently go to SJSU (Political Science) and I really want something more challenging and a new city. I was just curious if there are any successful transfers from a CSU to a UC that could share there stats. Just the basics would be cool and their experiences transferring.
STATS:
Transferrable GPA: ?
Major GPA: ?
Major: ?
CSU Transferred from: ?
Applied: ?
Accepted: ?
Enrolled UC: ?

Play around with that table a bit and you’ll find it happens but, is rare.
It isn’t rare at all. Many CSU transfers get to a UC every year. The key is to try and match the major requirements for the UC with your classes. Use assist.org and cross-reference with any community college. Also do the gen ed courses. The ones that don’t make it usually miss these parts.
According to the tool I linked above, there are about 200 CSU to UC transfers admitted last year. A much smaller number for the OPs target schools. The total transfers admitted were more than 50,000. I don’t think it is a stretch to call 0.4% of total admits rare.
Don’t interpret that as discouraging you from applying - just understand it is not a well worn path. You have to align with your target school early and make a compelling case for your admission.
I should also add, there are far fewer CSU applicants and the admit rate is similar to a CC at most UCs.
Again - not discouraging interested applicants. If you think you are qualified, take the shot.
@NCalRent I’m not sure how you’re interpreting the stats because I didnt look. It’s not based on how many CSU transfers fit into the overall population of transfers. It’s how many applied and how many got admitted from that pool of CSU applicants. It is absolutely not 0.4%.
Here are just two threads from a quick search. Every year people successfully transfer in from a CSU. I also think the admit rate is about 7-10%, depending on uc campus. The CRUCIAL KEY is getting major courses done, most of gen ed, and have a strong gpa.
So if you’re hoping to transfer from a CSU, do not be disheartened at all.
