I was just curious who got in from out of state. I was debating whether I should apply or not and I chose not to, but I want to see if I made a bad choice by not finishing my application.

Nevertheless, I've already been accepted to an equally just as good university, UNC-Chapel Hill, and they offer a better program for my major.

Hey BruinsJew, I just got accepted to UCLA as an out of state transfer student for Fall 09. I was surprised but I knew it wasn’t impossible. However I already made up my mind to attend UMich, where I’ll be starting as a junior.

STATS = college GPA of 3.86 with 72 credits amassed, took two yrs. off and worked at a neuroscience lab, tutored students in chem/math, advertised and marketed for a sports company etc…

Congratulations! I had a 3.6 GPA from UMiami, but the funny thing is I went to Maryland for one semester, so that made me laugh when I read where you’re transferring from. Maryland is a fine public institution, but you’re going to the BEST now, congrats!

BruinsJew, do you think I’m making an executive decision on attending UMich over UCLA. I mean there pretty comparable in research. However I think UMich has a bit of an edge with this specialty than it’s UCLA opponent.

UCLA and Umich are on par.
They are ranked Equally on all aspects.
But for Engg, uMich is a better option, UCLA other wise.
You mean Ann Harbor right?

Here is something else to consider. Do you want to establish yourself out in California or more so in the midwest (Illinois, Michigan)? I think if you want to go to graduate school in the West than UCLA might be a better choice for you.

BruinsJew, my major is Cell and Molecular Biology. I’m also, considering minoring in Spanish as well. This being said, the undergrad program in my opinion is more ideal for what I want to delve into, in comparison to UCLA’S. Maybe I’ll attend UCLA for grad school. Tell me what you think?

BTW: location is not an issue, academics are more pertinent here

WMTRIBE08, did you complete all of your prereqs. for your major? And did your English L&S requirements match their’s?

the4clover, from UW? Damn, I’m sorry to hear that. Did you complete your prereqs.? What major?

I got rejected, too. I had a 4.0, but then I looked on UCLA’s requirements and saw that I was missing 4 prereqs. I didn’t know you had to take CS classes as a math major? Oh, and also out of state. If I don’t get into Berkeley, I’m going to kill myself.

GPA 3.6
from University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign)
Major: American Lit and Cultures (which really helped)
Completed breadth requirements and most prereqs (which also really helped)

Wellesley College
3.6 GPA (3.7 if you include summer session classes)
Major: English and Classics (got into English)
completed all prereqs and requirements.

reeeally surprised I got in oos, but hurrah!
