I have another question.. I'm going to be living in DeGraff next year, where there is one bathroom being shared between four people. I was wondering, if someone is already in the bathroom taking a shower or something, is there some sort of open bathroom down the hall that the other people can go to? Or are you pretty much out of luck if someone is already in there?

Yes, and if you’re like me, you will find yourself in these bathrooms more than your own, because it’s cleaner.

The sinks and mirrors are in the bedrooms and not in the bathrooms, which means all you have in the BR is the toilet and the shower. So you have access to water and hand washing and teeth brushing no matter what. And if you were desperate, you could use the toilet while someone was showering (behind the shower curtain.) My D said that her suitemates were pretty much in and out. The girls all had those terry shower wraps, so they just showered, and did the drying off and hair drying and primping and makeup right in the dorm room. And there is a room on each floor with a bathtub for those who needed to soak or something. I was not aware that there was a commode there as well, but there might be.

The tub room on each floor has a bathtub/shower, toilet, and sink in it. So if you run into an issue where you need to use the bathroom or shower at the same time, this is an option. Like Matt mentioned above, these tend to be clean because they were cleaned daily (M-F).

I don’t know about other halls, but in Landis, NO ONE used the “tub rooms” (the public bathroom on a couple floors which had a tub shower, sink, and toilet). They were usually kinda dirty, and it’s commonly knowledge that they’re used for drunken vomit locations or secret hookups. I would never use a public bathroom, but maybe I’m just spoiled from having one in my suite…I never ran into a problem with showering or toilet (although I did get locked out a couple times)…and there were 5 people sharing my bathroom.

That’s funny that you mentioned Landis because that’s where I lived during the 06-07 year. It might have been a case of the suitemates we had (often would take 45 minute to an hour “showers” and then leave us locked out of the bathroom for hours at a time, and didn’t bother cleaning the bathroom during the course of the year).
Certainly, though, experiences do vary based on the people involved in each suite and on each floor.

Luckily I’m in a double w/bath so I don’t have to worry about it! Thanks to CC though because I would have never known to register for housing the day of getting accepted and getting a good priority #.
