Anyone have good layout ideas or experience with the suite style dorms? (Landis, Gilchrist, Bryan, Broward, Jennie Murphree, Reynolds, Cawthon, Wildwood...not talking about Salley or community style dorms right now)
Thanks!

Layout ideas? You’ll barely be spending time in your dorm so wouldn’t worry too much about it.

It’s going to depend on the layout of your room. Even in the same building there are sometimes wild variations in the layout of each room. Rooms that share a bathroom are usually almost identical mirror copies, so even within the same suite the layout isn’t the same.

If you need some ideas, you might want to look up FSU’s “Best Room on Campus” to see what some past residents have done with their rooms.

When I lived in Wildwood, my roommate and I didn’t really change the room layout much. We had a bed against the wall next to the door, and one on the far wall, and our desks in the middle. We aimed at maximizing “walking space” in the middle of the room, which tended to make the room actually look somewhat larger than it was. One good way of doing that would be to raise the beds high and to push the dresser underneath- it’ll save some space, although if you want the space to put stuff on the dresser that obviously won’t work.

My advice would be to wait until you move in and see your room before you start planning on re-arranging it. You may not have a room layout that is what you expect, especially if you are using the floor plans on Housing’s website as a guide. Once you move in you can get a good idea of what space you have to work with, plus you can plan things with your roommate. The last thing you want is to rearrange everything in the room and your roommate say that they can’t stand it and want to move things back.
