Summer 11 Music Festivals

Congrats, Cosmos!!!

Anybody here done Songfest before?

Are you refering to the vocalist/piano program in Malibu? If it is, it is a great opportunity to work with prominent composers and coaches.

Did anyone hear from Round Top? Results were supposed to be on or before March 25th.

DS called from school and informed me that he was accepted to Eastern Music Festival.

Did not even know he had applied - we now have a week to figure out the money angle.

I knew I should have bought a Mega Millions ticket this week…

Accepted to the vocal program at BUTI Tanglewood :)

D (viola) will be attending Music Academy of the West.

S (trumpet) will be attending Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar and Interlochhen.

Should be a great summer!

tomdug, my daughter (violin) will also be attending MAW. And I see from your previous post that she was at Aspen last year-- so maybe they know one another already. :)

Congratulations! They will love it there.

S will be attending Dolora Zajick’s Institute for Young Dramatic Voices this summer.

Congrats Tenormama! Awesome program!

Thanks and thanks so much for your help and advice!!!

glassharmonica, I bet they do know each other. The world seems to get smaller and smaller as they move up. Maybe we will cross paths this summer.

tomdug, I am hoping that my husband and maybe one of her sisters and I can fly to Santa Barbara to visit the festival for a few days! We’re on the East Coast, so she will be going to and from on her own. I’ve heard the location is spectacularly beautiful!

A 2-week chamber music festival that my daughter has been accepted to is still looking for good violists, advanced high school or college-age conservatory students. They have plentiful financial assistance available. I don’t know exactly what they mean by ‘good’. If you are interested, send me a PM and I will tell you more.

memake, some would say that “good violists” is an oxymoron.

Will they settle for failed violinists?

Hey, as a ‘violadad’, shouldn’t you be more supportive, and leave the vile viola jokes to the cellists and violinists?

The best defense is a good offense.

Son loves his t-shirt that says “I play half as many notes as you do, and get get paid the same scale. You tell me who’s smarter.”

;)

Half the notes and twice the gets. What’s not to like?

As it’s too late to edit, I’ll suggest the typo was really an attempt to say get it while the getting’s good.
