So, I was planning to get a job this summer, but it didn't really work out with my schedule. So, I decided that I would do volunteering. I called and e-mailed lots of places, and...no response back. :( Now, I'm worried that colleges will look down on this. I'm doing Girls State next week, and 2 community college classes starting in July. What should I do? I'm really stressed about how this will negatively impact my college application.

Don't stress yourself out. If you do, you will be burnt out before you even get back into school!

it wont, ur doing great, go to someplaces and see if u can get a crappy job moping and trash for minimum(or even below minimum) wage. If you really want coleges to look good at you this will help cause it shows your working hard to make that dough, and not just sitting in an air conditioned room being bored.

I am sure someone would hire you if u told them u wanted to do dirty work for low pay. Just ask everywhere. especially at places ur freinds or family own or work.

volunteer at hospital, er only if u wanna be a doctor though

Try applying to a supermarket-- they tend to have flexible hours and they're used to working with lots of students with random schedules.

If your can't seem to find any place to volunteer, you could always set up your own little project. Maybe get a group of friends to meet semi-regularly and pick up trash at a park or around the neighborhood.

You could also spend some time reading for pleasure rather than for classes. Being exposed to literature never really sets you back!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try those things. :)

Wow, if anything, how will taking two classes + Girls State negatively affect your application?

Relax, and try to search for more opportunities. All I'm doing this summer is a (possible) job, nothing special, some trivial thing, and taking health to meet my graduation requirement. Lol.
