Summer before 9th grade: on your application form or not?

Hi, everyone. Please help me. The common application is before my time, and I'm too old to remember whether I described my pre-9th-grade summer activities on my own application waaaayyy back when. Would someone please tell me whether the summer activities you do the summer before 9th grade can or should be included in the application (or maybe in an attached resume?)? Much thanks!

I wouldn’t include it. They’re looking for high school activities---- with most of the emphasis specifically on 10th-12th grade.

I would think only if its say
an Eagle Scout project,
a Duke TIP program, like an academic math competittion etc
or some kind of significant volunteer thing–
for example,
then include it.

Thank you, nysmile and fogfog, for your replies. I’m glad to know that the application form does not require the applicant to include activities the summer before 9th grade. My son is entering 9th grade this fall, and his plan is to use the summer for a hodgepodge of things he wants to do: finish all his Eagle-required merit badges, go to Boy Scout camp for a week, take more kendo classes all summer long, do some SAT prep and MATHCOUNTS practice on his own, keep volunteering weekly at the soup kitchen, and do the summer reading and essays that his school requires. What a luxury to be able to have a summer that doesn’t have to go on the application form!
