Hello all,
I was recently accepted into the College of Letters and Sciences and saw at the bottom of my acceptance letter this:
“You have also been invited to participate in Summer Bridge, a comprehensive eight-week academic residential program that serves a diverse and global community. Scholars enroll in two credit-bearing courses and are assigned an academic counselor and resident assistant to ensure successful transition to Cal. Sign up in the “Forms” section on your MAP@Berkeley home page.”
I did a little Googling to see what information there was regarding this and came to the conclusion that it was meant for students that came from high schools that were less accredited or were first generation students. I don’t check any of these boxes nor do I really want to spend 7k plus on a program not necessary.
In my MAP@Berkeley, in the Forms checklist, it lists it as an optional form and it doesn’t list it as a condition for my SIRs either or Conditions of Admission.
Based on the info given above, Is this just an optional thing in my scenario, does everyone receive this in their acceptance letter, or is it mandatory?
Let me know if any of you received this in your acceptance letter.
Thanks CC community.
