I get my info from spending too much time on the internet, and a little common sense. Mostly too much time online.

25a- the lectures from a previous class (not the same professor this summer, although I believe one of them was a GSI for this class) are on itunes U. Listen to them! I feel so productive listening to those podcasts on my way to school haha. The podcasts are also labeled (although a few from the beginning are missing), so that’s how I figured out the readings.
Plato’s Euthyphro, Crito, Apology, Meno, Phaedo, The Republic
Aristotle’s Nicomachaen Ethics, Posterior Analytics, Physics, Categories, and De Anima (on the soul)
Since this professor is not the professor for summer session, these are not set in stone. I could definitely imagine Aristotle’s Politics being required, for example.
But, if you want to get ahead, I recommend reading Euthyphro (a short dialogue), The Republic, and Nicomachaen Ethics now. The last two are long, but if you read books 1-5 for both really well you’ll be well off. Those are the most important books (for this class anyway), so if you have a good understanding of those the rest will be easier, and the later books aren’t covered nearly as much as those.

25b- I found a syllabus. All of the readings had to do with knowledge. I don’t know if that’ll be the case for all 25b classes, since the 25a class sampled a lot (ethics, political philosophy, logic, etc). Descartes’s Meditations will almost definitely begin the class, so if you want to get ahead, read that (along with “objections and replies”). Berkeley, Hume, Kant, they’ll all definitely be covered, and if you’re brave, try reading one of their works concerning knowledge/human understanding. But again, a different professor might teach differently so you may end up reading the “wrong” essay. so go at your own risk.

12a- there are 2 logic classes over the summer, one taught by Fitelson, one by a grad student. This was actually the reason for this thread lol, I went to fitelson.org and downloaded ALL of his lecture powerpoints, hw assignments (and began working on them), handouts, EVERYTHING. There are only 2 spots in Fitelson’s class left (24 in the other 1), and I want to know if I got a spot when I registered, or if I’ll get one when my app goes through. AHHH! Anyway, so that’s how I got that stuff.

regarding registration- I’m not a Berkeley student, I want to transfer Fall 2011 (I’ll have 50 credits by the end of this spring), and I want to establish myself at that school and get my prereqs done.
should you wait to be accepted? maybe not for the logic class. Keep your eye on the schedule and see if they look like they’ll fill up (Fitelson’s logic class is almost full). Right now logic is 38/40 and 16/40, ancient is 15/40 and 14/40, and modern is 5/40 and 5/40. Do NOT pay visiting fees to secure your 25b spot lol- I’m pretty sure it’ll still be there come April 30.
Registration has been open since Feb 1 for UC students, and Feb 16 for all other students.
You lose some fee if you withdraw from your classes, I’m not sure how it works completely financially. I do know that if you register as a visiting student, the class will still count toward your UC GPA and your Cal transcript. I also know that because of budget cuts, everyone’s short staffed. So there’s a greater chance of you getting a flat “no” if you try to switch your status to get reduced fee. Also, you have to pay up front for visiting students, so I doubt they’re just going to refund $400 because you changed statuses. But you can always try.
Also, when you register as a UCB student you do it through telebears…so you get instant confirmation you’re in the class and not constantly checking your email to see your “confirmed class schedule”
