Summer Courses @ Community College

If I’m taking a summer course at a community college, does the grade count towards my GPA when I attend Davis this upcoming Fall or do I receive credit if I just pass the class regardless of what grade I receive?

And what about community college courses I’ve taken during my high school semesters? Do they also count towards my Davis GPA?

The courses at the community college will count for units towards graduation, assuming they are UC transferable. They will not have an effect on your UC GPA but, will be included in your cumulative GPA.

from a post by UCD admissions

whats the difference in UC GPA and cummulative?

One is just from courses taken at a UC and the other includes courses taken at other universities or community colleges.

Oh okay.

But then which is gpa is typically considered for grad schools such as pharmacy or medical school?

hahahah how did i know he was a premed. how?
All grades are considered by postgrad/professional schools. One other thing, taking CC courses is generally looked down upon due to a lack of rigor and ease. Pharm + med =/= grad school. k? bai!

xinny,

going with what Bmbmasta said, considering the competitiveness and difficulty of getting into med/pharmacy programs it's highly recommended you don't take anything at a JC unless you really have to. If you need to take something take it only to finish your GE and NEVER take courses that graduate schools require-for example if your going to med school pretty much all med schools require calculus so don't take calculus at a JC. aite hope that helps.
