@ecehopeful, I tried to change my 2nd major to Cockrell:ECE today but the portal is not allowing any more changes until admitted.
@MyUTAustin strange, mine went through. If you don’t get a decision by May 1st you should call them and ask them to change the major so you don’t miss the major change deadline.
You should get a decision by then if you have 30+ credits though
@punctiliouseye
I really doubt they consider that. They aren’t gonna hyper-analyze thousands of applicants like that even if they did have the time to do so (which they don’t). They just steamroll through hundreds of applications a day looking at grades and prereqs, then skim the essay to make sure the kid seems like normal, productive human being before they admit him/her.
The real reason they ask for your second choice major is for the applicants whose grades and prereqs don’t qualify them for a particularly strong program, but would qualify them for other programs in the university. They’re definitely not asking so they can play psychic and speculate about what your personal objectives are… that’s what your personal statement was for.
Anyone else hyped that tomorrow is April? Soooooon…
edit: haha oops, nevermind, that’s Wednesday. ah well, all the same.
Okay so i got my midterm grades back and basically will have to miserably fail my finals to have these grades change

So how do my chances look based on my school and majors?
Thanks
@Kyotoraz i would be extremely surprised if you don’t get into CNS-Chemistry . Your chances look extremely likely , like if you don’t get in then idk whats up with admissions at UT
@Kyotoraz, Yeah, I can already see you crying loud with joy, get ready on how to express it later when you get that acceptance letter :-*
@MyLonghorn Thanks I just wont be satisfied until I get accepted…
@MyUTAustin Haha no I can’t do that cause a rejection after that will kill me.
@Kyotoraz
Why don’t u apply to ChemE?
I’m so afraid no one is talking about ChemE because its impossible to get into.
@punctiliouseye I was thinking about it. I really love chemistry but I have a better chance at CNS compared to Cockrell which is on a whole other level.
When should we expecting to hear back from UT Austin? (Transfer admission: Fall 2015)
@hsimak1 Applicants from previous years have heard back around June. Mid June the latest.
Anyone have stats for people who got into CNS:CS?
The portal says there will be students accepted between April 1st and May 15th. I’m guessing that the 30+ credit applicants will have decisions by then and the others will get theirs in June.
Well, it looks like my admission chances have basically been reduced to 0%. As I have previously posted, I have recently completed 46 hrs with a 4.0 GPA at Austin CC. I have 9 hrs of bad grades from > 10 yrs ago that I expected to be ignored by using the Texas Academic Fresh Start law. I was informed by admissions staff that my application would need to be denied before I could use Fresh Start (during appeal), so I thought “how much can 9hrs really lower my GPA?”. Well… Quite a bit I just found out that UT has calculated my GPA as 3.69 which (from what I’ve been told) pretty much guarantees my application denial. Feeling totally bummed right now, like all my hard work has been in vien. I guess I’ll start preparing my appeal… Do you guys know anyone that has been accepted to Cockrell after an appeal?
@MathMeany try to get into CNS then do internal transfer, that would be easier, and I think it would be better than wait till you eligible for that Fresh Start Law
@MathMeany I’m in a situation similar to yours: 4.0 GPA in college, but a 3.3 GPA with 20 hours summed up from 2 years of dual-credit classes. The only thing I’m hoping for is that admissions will look at my application more holistically than I imagine them to, although it’s far-fetched thinking. So don’t worry, you’re not the only one feeling like all my hard work has gone down the drain! :’) Unfortunately I don’t know anyone that was accepted through appeals, but if you at least end up getting accepted to the university (which is highly probable for you), you can try engineering through internal transfer.

The wait until June is killlllllllling meeeeeee! I wish I already had my 30 hours so I could just know. Can UT accept a pinky promise that my grades won’t drop and let me know my fate?
@Geekytheatregeek I like that pinky promise lolll. Can UT accept me to PetE. with pinky promise also?
