@yoohooos I was a finance major last semester, so I took bus cal 1. I heard there are no required classes for econ though is that correct
@BilalMKhan yes, there is no require class for Econ, but for CNS there are .
@yoohooos oh ok so i should probably change bio to something else? what are my chances for econ with a 3.9?
Bilal - you should be in really good shape for COLA Economics. But here’s something to consider:
Calculus Requirement
•Economics majors must take one of the following calculus sequences: M408C and M408D or M408K and M408L (and M408M for students in the 08-10 or prior catalogs). Equivalent transfer credit is acceptable.
•Business Calculus (M403K and M403L and their equivalents) does not satisfy the calculus requirement for the economics major.
So basically, you will have to spend two semesters taking calculus before you can take Micro and Macro Theory.
Just submitted my application and the wait begins!
@Kyotoraz , you might as well forget about till like May, cause your final transcript won’t be sent till then which they determine your GPA off of, id assume
@MyLonghorn We keep tracking UT thread since Fall semester tho. Lolll
@yoohooos lol i know , I’m just there i keep saying that to myself that i should forget about it after i send my application in before march 1st , then not think about it till may but i don’t think thats possible at this state lol
@MyLonghorn Yes I am aware. It was about having that off of my shoulders. Feels great!

My courses for this spring semester (2015) are:
Calc 2 (aiming for A or B ), a art class (expecting an A), a research class (expecting an A), and and a sociology class (expecting an A). If possible, can anyone tell me how much would these grades bring my GPA up by?
GPA: 3.52
Letter of Rec: I got one from my Calc 1 prof, and one from my boss of my job which is an on-campus one.
I am an in-state student
I have many volunteer hours from high school and college combined (I got the presidential award my junior year of high school plus some other awards). My hours are 150-200 hours. Additionally, I was involved in many school clubs and played varsity of three teams at my HS.
I am currently in the SHSU Bower’s Honor College and have been on the Dean’s list for the fall and spring semesters (2013-2014 year) and an McNair Scholar (Which I was told UT likes to accept a lot of us for grad school).
Hello,
I am an undergraduate Sophomore at Sam Houston State University. I am looking into transferring.
1st Choice: Moody College of Communications with a major in Advertising
2nd Choice: College of Natural Sciences Undeclared.
Unfortunately, I dropped 3 classes this spring semester. I have 15 A’s, 4 B’s, 2 C, and 3 Q’s.
Last semester, my GPA was a 3.70 but now I have dropped 3.48 although I have switched majors since then and I re-took the classes I dropped and did better in them.
Letter of Rec: 0 for now.

1st Choice: Economic
2st choice: Computer sciences
My current GPA is 3.69/ 68 credit hours
I finished all MATH course Calc1&2
letter of rec: 1 for now
I don’t have any volunteer hours.
i am the member of the PHI THETA KAPPA international honor society.
Do I have chance to get in COLA ?
many thanks
Please chance me! Mostly worried about GPA, I think my other credentials will be sufficient
•Texas State - San Marcos
•Last semester GPA was 3.67 but with HS dual credit the average is 3.44 (will the dual credit be calculated in for my transfer GPA? I’m clueless.) -49 hours. Expecting to get at least a 3.7 this semester
•applying for College of liberal arts- journalism and undecided
•Really good essays
•Bunch of clubs in HS and 2 human rights clubs at TXST, applied for honors college here and will more than likely get in
@plipplop I’m sorry but cockrell with a 3.5 seems highly highly unlikely , I’m applying to ECE also , but with a 3.94 and i still am dubious of if i will get accepted or not
@MyLonghorn yeah I know, I’m hoping to get my GPA back up to a 3.7. I had a 3.79 in the fall but made two C’s which brought my GPA down.
@MyLonghorn yeah I know, I’m hoping to get my GPA back up to a 3.7. I had a 3.79 in the fall but made two C’s which brought my GPA down. And sorry for replying from the wrong account, my sister got on my computer.
What is a good back up major that is easier to get into than others?
@kgal1989 Unfortunately you need to send the dual transcript as well because it will count
@cdctransfer I sent my dual credit transcript to UT Arlington when I was a CAP student, and the dual credit GPA didn’t affect my UT Arlington GPA and was simply listed as “transfer credit.” Are you certain UT Austin combines your dual credit GPA and your college GPA even though my UT system school doesn’t? If they do, my transfer GPA is ruined.
