Nothing for me either.
Hi, I am just posting here to report that somebody I know got accepted into CNS in CS. I don’t know her stats, but her GPA is under 3.7. But she has a family, which apparently is a good thing. I don’t know what classes she’s taken, but I don’t think she took Engineering Physics. Took cal 1 and 2 and probably got As.
Transfering from ACC. She heard today at my status page.
I am applying to EE, and haven’t heard back yet.
Have we figured out if there is any rhyme or reason for the times at which they send out acceptances? Morning, noon, night? Probably not and most likely a pointless question… Oh impatience… Good luck to all on finals, I am not taking any classes this term…so all I have left to focus on are all the things I am not accomplishing right now because all forward movement depends on UT’s decision.
I was accepted into UT Austin two weeks ago. I began having problems logging into MyStatus and missed my enrollment deposit deadline. They rescinded my admission. They told me to fax them asking them to reinstate me into the University. Is it possible I will be denied due to this failure on my part? Anybody have any experience in this situation? Any help is appreciated. I did what they asked and faxed them my “appeal”.
Holy $ }{ ¡ + :-&
i got accepted 24th April and the deadline to accept was May 1st
Aight so I just got off the phone with admissions; I asked them till when should I expect to get the decision to what they said for fall it’ll be in June and for Summer( for which I applied) its going to be before the classes start which is 4th june. Then they were like we know there are going to be ramifications and some people won’t be able to come even if they are accepted. Just wondering if I would ever want to go to a university which treats (probably) its students like this (aswell).
This is bullshit.
@Dayeedkhan Are you a freshman or a sophomore now?
@Dayeedkhan who did you speak with?
@Mohyeen , what was your major and stats please?
I still am “in review” and was told by admissions that I will find out anytime this month. And they said summer admission is “difficult”. I applied for for summer in neuroscience in CNS with a 3.85 GPA. I had 38 hours before deadline as well as Calculus 1 completed. Essays were decent. Extra Curriculars were average.
Another thing I noticed is that majority of applicants who have been accepted so far as transfers are COLA applicants. With a Computer Science as well. CNS people are getting kinda screwed over. Hopefully we hear back in the upcoming weeks
The people who have been accepted early in no way have “better qualifications” than many of the applicants still waiting. It’s just that they applied to Liberal Arts, who have been a lot faster with their decisions.
@TexasOVO23
while we both agree that people with lesser qualifications have been accepted so far, liberal arts students are not the only ones that have received their admissions decision. CNS students have also been accepted and it is surprising that CS has accepted students faster than other majors in CNS. UT boasts that only the best will get into its program since it is ranked top 10 in the world, yet people with 3.5s have made it. Truly perplexing.
CS cares more about experience and proven success in the field. A 3.5 GPA + internship will trump a 4.0 with no experience every time. The ones admitted early were probably pretty impressive with coursework or outside class experiences
Also, a 3.5+ requirement puts them in a very high tier, so thats sounds about right
I’ve read your posts on this thread. You are seriously butt hurt man. I cannot fathom how immature you are for judging others the way you do. If those who were accepted to CS were truly lesser people academically. Or if they where unqualified, UT would not have their reputation for having so many companies hire their graduates.
If they got accepted, its because they deserved it. Get it over it. They probably showed a much better attitude that you have in their essays, and proved themselves to be more complete people. And if it hurts your ass that the school you applied for does holistic evaluations, then you are in the wrong place buddy.
I don’t know if you are applying to CS, if you are I really hope you don’t get in, because it is becoming a field filled with toxic, arrogant leet ninjas. So get off your high horse.
^ Yea I’m guessing that the essay might be one of the reasons why that guy didnt get in the first wave of acceptances. It’s possible that he wrote an essay that had condescending undertones that he may not have realized. He doesn’t appear to recognize that his posts here come off very strongly in that manner so maybe he said something weird in his essay without even realizing it and it didn’t sit right with the admissions officer
Don’t know what he applied for, but if its one of the more selective program like engineering or computer science, that could be why he got passed over for the time being while someone with similar qualifications and a more personable essay already got admitted.
I can’t believe people in admissions openly admit to the fact that they KNOW that people won’t be able to attend UT despite being accepted because they are taking too long. That’s so frustrating. What’s the point of paying the application fee and going through the whole application process then??
@MyUTAustin could you add me to your list?
1st JSG Geosciences (Geophysics)
2nd JSG/Cockrell Hydrogeology and Geosystems Engineering
Thanks and no decision yet!
