Summer/Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@Kyotoraz @stevenjp My essay does address the prompt it just has the same catcher I used on the essay I submitted to UT my senior year

Hey everyone! Let me know what you think

Transferring from ACC

Applying to Cockrell for ME

GPA: 3.62

53 credit hours

Iā€™ll have all of my transfer requirements complete except Calc III, which Iā€™ll take in the summer

Essays are average

Iā€™m a veteran who served 6 years

I have 3 LOR. 1 from my Calc prof. and 2 from officers in the military

@smnae1306ā€Œ If it does then by all means do it. Just make sure the essay is good and youā€™re set!

Is it okay if I send in my HS transcript after the deadline?

@pnkvilasā€Œ HS transcripts arenā€™t required for admission. You will send them in eventually though.

Wonder what yā€™all think of my chances:

Transferring from OU after one year:
3.8 GPA
48 credits completed, 15 in progress

Applying to Public Relations in Moody as 1st choice
2nd Choice- Advertising in Moody

Good essays, Letter of Rec from advisor/professor
Member of a few academic and social clubs.

Thanks!

@csteel21ā€Œ you have a really solid chance of being accept. Good luck

So Iā€™m going to be applying to transfer to UT to transfer for LSU for petroleum engineering, my first semster I got a 4.0 and calc was a 5.0 hour credit taking calc, chem, english, and geology, 14 hrs and now Iā€™m taking 15 hrs with physics, chem, chem lab, intro Pete, and calc 2, I doubt Iā€™ll get a 4.0 again but I want to know whatā€™s the chances of me getting into Ut pete engineering and if I dont get into the engineering college will they accept me into the university under something else? Iā€™m kinda scared, Iā€™m also getting a letter of rec from a professor at UT and also think I have some what sorta strong essays.

How long does it take for my application to be on my status?

Hey guys, how long does it take to get your ut eid? Does anyone know if you can get it on the weekend too? I made the mistake of not submitting my application without essays completely done until now (or at least soon). Could I get it now and submit my resume now?

@cristofffā€Œ I believe youā€™re supposed to receive it within a couple of days. I would wait until Monday or even Tuesday to get it. If not go ahead and call them and ask.

Iā€™m an ACC student transferring into COLA - Government.

Stats:
3.643 GPA
45 credits and 12 more in progress
3 essays
1 letter of rec
325 hours of volunteer work
Had the same job for 3 years

Do you guys think thatā€™s good enough to get in?
I didnā€™t apply anywhere else because I only want to go to UT, so I would hate to be rejected.

Schools attended: Belmont University and Houston Community College
3.55 cumulative GPA @ 51 hours (transferring as a sophomore, nearly junior)
Applied to COLA
Psychology first choice, English second

3 strong essays. Statement of purpose essay was very strong, explaining how I transferred from music to psychology and why I have the appropriate personality/skills to be a psychologist. Other required essay was about an important issue; I chose depression and wrote some of it from personal experience. Third essay was optional and explained the various hardships I dealt with my freshman year of college, including death of a close friend and major depression/anxiety.

3 letters of rec, all from Houston Comm College professors. I made Aā€™s in all of their classes and I was close with my psychology teacher. History prof is a UT alumn

Activities: On the community council of my residence hall freshman year, member of a student rock band freshman year, member of Honors Program at Belmont, Phi Theta Kappa member, Psi Beta Psychology Honor society member, member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Eagle Scout, worked full time as a pizza delivery driver July-Oct 2014 while I was a full time student last fall. Deanā€™s List Fall 2014

Yes, GPA is not stellar, I know. Iā€™ve been rejected before from UT because of it, though it was lower then. Iā€™m a Texas resident.

They usually give it to you no longer than 2 days after youā€™ve submitted your app. You can log into MyStatus with it and upload anything as long as itā€™s before the deadline. I hope you made it!

@britboy94ā€Œ Your stats look good, man. That GPA could probably get you into COLA or UGS, do you know what you want to major in? Because with engineering, comp sci, business and some of the other extremely competitive majors, you donā€™t stand a chance against all the 3.9/4.0 students in that applicant pool. Either way, good luck! Let me know what you plan on studying so I can try and help you out with your chances.

@PastePotPeteā€Œ Hmm, that doesnā€™t sound good for us external transfers since with CAP and PACE the requirements for admission are much lower and those applicants are guaranteed admittance if they meet them. Where did you hear this? Ahh, UT. Good thing I applied to three other schools with top programs in my area of study. Though, theyā€™re all out of state. More $, yayyy

@xlolpxā€Œ
You donā€™t have much to worry about. With the average COLA acceptance GPA being around a 3.6, youā€™re looking good. And your volunteer hours and work experience will definitely work in your favor as a psych major, especially since you mentioned that it reflects your kind-hearted personality. Also, Iā€™m pretty impressed with your stats just in general. Iā€™m applying for the same thing, actually. Perhaps you could message me? Good luck btw:)

So, Iā€™m thinking summer decisions will be out by May, yes? Because registration is 6/2-6/3 soā€¦

@Pianoman911ā€Œ I believe they will be for applicants that have already met the 30 hours requirement. For applicants completing their 30 hours I heard It can take as late as June to get a decision. But as you said that registration starts early June I am hoping they make all decisions in May, that would just be great!
