Summer Housing help

I'm going to be down at UCLA this summer to do research. I'm looking to sublet, so I assume Craigslist will be adequate for that, unless somebody has a better suggestion. Having said that, I was wondering if you guys could recommend where in relation to campus would best suit me and what kind of transportation assistance there will be (I don't know the area at all). I will not have a car, so I definitely would like something in walking distance. I know that I'm not eligible to stay in the dorms since I won't be taking classes. How much does average apartment rent during summer sublet look like?

Thanks!

This is the question that I also would to have answered. Thanks.

look at the ucla map Campus Map - Full Campus [UCLA Gateway]
the area between campus, veteran, and wilshire (ish) is where most apartments are.
if you're researching in south campus, that's best. there are campus shuttles that run to certain apartments. Campus Express
evening van service goes more places than campus shuttle in the evening hours. http://www.ucpd.ucla.edu/ucpd/cso/evening_van_service%20map.pdf

if you want to save money and live south of wilshire, or in other areas, the big blue bus (and other bus lines) comes to either the ackerman turnaround, or just off campus, depending on the hour.

if you're a member of facebook you may be able to see subletting listings on the marketplace...
