Summer job with the early start date

Hi everyone. So, I will be attending the USC in the fall but am trying to get a much needed summer job. USC's move in day is August 20th, which is so early compared to a lot of people I know who will be starting late September, and I also will be going down to LA for a week the beginning of July for my orientation (my sister also has a softball tournament so that's why my whole family is staying a week). I'm worried that no one is going to want to hire me because I'll basically only be able to work for about eight weeks with the early start date of school and my orientation. Has anyone else run into this problem? I have an interview next Tuesday for a cashier position at Shell and am not sure what I should tell them about this situation. Any tips? Thanks a lot!

Be up front and don’t worry about the reaction. Your boss will respect your honesty. If you fail to disclose, you’ll be in a much more difficult and awkward position when you give notice. Good luck.
