Summer Movies!

What summer movies have you, or are planning, to see? And without giving spoilers, what did you think of it?

I want to see District 9 and the new Final Destination.

everyone watch district 9. right now.

I’ve never heard of any of those:/ Are they any good? The most recent movie I saw was Knowing. I’m not sure when that came out though.

I haven’t seen them yet but District 9 looks really good.

District 9 and 500 Days of Summer were both great. Both are rather unconventional films too.

I’ve heard District 9 is supposed to be about apartheid.

[I haven’t actually seen it. Don’t know if that’s correct or not.]

^ lol were you in the CCislulz chat last night?

If you mean me, no. I wasn’t, sorry.

oh lol just wondering. we were talking about that word and the movie. yea you had to be there !

No, sorry. I snuck a peak at the thread in the college cafe and saw them talking about apartheid and district 9.
I wish I could go see it tomorrow

So far I’ve seen:

District 9- Very good. Interesting action, yet surprisingly deep
Funny People- Not as funny as I thought it would be. Dissappointing
The Goods- Some really funny scenes/lines but not exactly a family move  See if you like stupid comedy.
Harry Potter 6- Awesome movie, but didn’t follow the book AT ALL
Transformers 2- Cheezy action movie with awesome special effects
G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra- Same as Transformers, without the robots

District 9 is the best movie i’ve watched all summer.

@WantsBrown - District 9 is actually about aliens who eat cat food. But if you look deeper into the movie you’ll see the metaphor the movie has with Apartheid.

Up – amazing first 20 minutes
Funny People – decent for the first half, then it kinda dragged
Harry Potter – very good, the sex scenes were kind awkward though

I want to see
500 Days of Summer
District 9
Where the Wild Things Are (that’s coming out this summer right? Idr)

Seen:

 • Harry Potter
 • Funny People
 • The Goods
 • District 9

To be seen:

 • 500 Days of Summer
 • The Time Traveler’s Wife

And yes, District 9 was about (or included elements of) Apartheid.

The Proposal- One of the best, funniest romantic comedies I’ve ever seen! More comedy than romance so it’s guy-friendly as well. Not to mention it’s got Ryan Reynolds, yummm ;)

Harry Potter- Funniest one yet! I totally loved it.

Want so see:
District 9
Time Traverler’s Wife

lol @ the catfood. prawns who eat catfood.

I want to see District 9, Harry Potter, Orphan, Final Destination (I don’t know if I can stomach it, I’m weak with horror flicks), Time Traveler’s Wife, and My Sister’s Keeper.

WHEN is that new Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland movie with Johnny Depp coming out? I feel like I’ve waiting forever. I really want to see this.

I only saw Harry Potter this summer. Wow.

I actually saw a bunch of other movies at home, but they weren’t recent. Although I did become a fan of Ewan McGregor.

I’m actually curious about the Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland Movie, too. It seems interesting.

Does not compute!

For some reason I have no inclination to see 500 Days of Summer. Zooey Deschanel annoys me and it seems like your typical “quirky” cutsy indie Juno wannabe.

Harry Potter
Julie and Julia

Both were good. Everyone complained about the lack of action in the 6th HP but I think it was a good decision to make this one lighthearted, because you know the last two are going to be completely Voldemort/Horcrux-centric.

Julie and Julia - french cooking and meryl streep. nuff said.

Public Enemies was a bit of a letdown, but Depp was good as usual.

Drag Me To Hell - I have no idea why it wasn’t a bigger hit. Frankly, I think it’s sad that Saw IVIVIII or whatever got so much box office revenue while Drag Me To Hell got so little. It was one of the best movie-going experiences I’ve had in awhile, alternately freaking or laughing.
